Because S30 PCD isn't common in "off the shelf" fitment these days and Rota's are less than half the price of a set of custom rims like in your example.

Dont think there's anything wrong with the wheels, they look great. I may be wrong but I'm assuming that spacers have been installed to push them out to enable the stretched tire to fill the arch. Remove the spacer, add wider tyres, and your right back where you started with a better handling and better looking car.

Just so I'm clear, I would still sell a kidney for this car, just dont like the tyre fitment.

A valid point for those on a budget.

I think the spacers are involved like Zedhead said as it is a lot cheaper.
Some of the wheels with the offset/width some people want cost an arm and a leg, if you don't go daft spacers are a decent compromise.

No you're not.

This is about wheel width and off-set.

Tyre width, stretched or otherwise has little to do with it.

Datsfun, each to their own and all that
From an aesthetics point of view I think stretched tyres make the car look absolutely ridiculous and if you want it to be taken seriously by performance enthusiasts then chavvy gimmicks like that won't cut it
But if all you want to do is tool around McDonalds then your right up there.

From a performance point of view "stretching" the tyres is not a good thing to do as they were designed for specific wheel sizes and as such you are creating additional stress/loads where they weren't designed to be and considering that they are the only thing keeping you in contact with the road then "leave the f**k alone"

But as slowcoach says "it’s the in look"

Well as you said...each to their own. I think by associating the stretch tyre look <> with tooling McDonalds, you have highlighted at perhaps your lack of appeciation in getting the visual appearance of car right(styling). ...streched tyres and silly low stance dont aid handling and performance and yes if you want to do trackdays or spirited driving, tyre profile, thread, rim width, weight, unsprung mass etc all have to be taken into account and in such cases, its form over style always. So silly stretch is a no-no if serious performace is on the cards...

Majority of the "street" classics in Japan (excluding trackday or racecars) that I have seen tend to have some form of stretched tyres, do you classify the whole lot as Chavy gimmicks too? It may be hard to accept but not everyone looks at a car with performance sunglasses on;)

BTW slowcoach they have been doing this since the early 80's in Japan" so its not exactly the in look?:D

To me , the "In look" is the sudden lust for ZG over fenders, carbon fibre components, 17,18" wheels, 3" tail pipes etc etc....this "look" will be dated in the next decade and something else will be the in thing then...

That look will never be dated. I wanted that look 25 years ago and each generation of new young lads will always want big exhausts and fat tyres and a Peco big bore, it's in your genes at seventeen:)

............yeah, it was in Japan in the '80s...........and now it's the in-thing here mate - we're always behind them - I see all sorts of ***** cars like Passats and 306s with stretched tyres here - not just Civis and whatnot !

"Sudden" lust for ZG arches ? People have been selling copies of them outside of Japan for more than 5 years now - you're old hat - they're already moving back to standard looking arches but absolutely filling the arches with 245 tyres !

Yep a gimmick 'cos Zs are for driving ! All power to them, variety is the spice of life and all that, more people, especially younger attracted to Zs is great but ultimately a clean, pure shape and look that goes around a track and twisty roads in third gear, accelerating and engine braking will NEVER date !

Someone reanimate Skidden please, if only to lighten his wallet of £15 !

Yes you are... :D

If .... your running spacers just to push the wheels out and not to clear the brakes or suspension.

Robin, as said before on the ducth Mazda forum. Love your work !

Hi guys,

have been a lot further with rebuilding the car.
I will add a lot off pictures i the next couple of days when i update a few forums more:rofl: .

I'll tell you guys why i chosen the stretched tyres.

It is some kind of style that is not be seen that much over here in holland. More like in the USA with the hellaflush en stance nations meetings/ forums. I like that style and decided i wanted that "hellaflush" style on my car.
I knewed when i decided i would have people with me and against me when creating this style.
But that is just about your own taste of styling.

Why did i chose the rbx wheels? Well i liked the design and the size. I think these 17 inch isnt too big. And offcourse these are cheaper. ( thats the dutch mentality ;) )
Why i chose spacers? When having the stretched tires and wanted too have the car lowered as much as possible together with a good stance and the flares it was the only option.
Buying 17 inch wheels with ( now with spacers ) offsets -32 and -44 isn't possible with s30 pcd. so spacers were the only way to make the stance the best i could and
important they way i wanted the car too look and the way i like.

I hope you guys understand more now why i installed things the way they are.

for the winter i want to buy steelies of a nissan primera and let them be welded wider with wintertyres.
when i go trackdays iw buy other wheels with bigger semi-slicks.

Your car is ace...

And I dont think you need to justify why you went for stretched tyres, 17" rims et all. Its your car and you should not need to justify the mods.

Sure there will be haters, but do you care?;)

Some will say that you should have used baloon size 70 profile tyres and 5.5J alloys for that classic look...
Others will say you should have painted it yellow or red as it makes it go faster round bends and on straights..
Then there is the JDM look...

where does it stop ??

I look forward to the updated pics:thumbs:

Now it looks like it is original

i like the dashboard floc. are you getting any more of the interior panels flocked?

no i was thinking about the doorpanels and the gearboot panel thing but both will become ugly in the future due too using the car.

Door panels will become aluminium and i gues i will paint the middle gearboot panel thing black myself.
