Z Grill

Cheers Dave, pics would be good.

Nigel, the centre mount isn’t such a prob, as I’ve a new fabricated centre support that I can adapt from, but those two lower side holes align with nothing, like they seem to be 2" to low :confused:

The original mounts could have rotted away or been cut off during repair to the front of the car, you can see the outer lower mounting bracket in this pic;

There are two types of 240Z grille which differ in the position of the centre mounting bracket. The earlier type is no longer available so the later type would have to be adapted to the earlier car (up to 06/72).

I think I can see a shiny bolt head, but I can’t see the bracket it’s attached to?

Ps my n/s brkts are both intake, but align with nothing

Btw, why doesn’t your front panel have a lip at the top?

Hey Tim

Are those captive nuts holding your rad --- thats cheating, (bloody good idea though) learn to juggle 2 sets of spanners, drop the nuts, washers and everthing else under the car and swear a lot, like the rest of us.

M8, look closer at the shiny bolt head and you will see the "L" shaped bracket with a captive nut on it, its hard to make out but its there, trust me, :)

Captive nuts..........nah just very flash looking Allen bolts with Nylocs on the other end, so I still have the opportunity to drop nuts/bolts/sockets/spanners etc. when fitting the rad, ;)

Some early years seem to come with out the steel lip which I've seen bolted on AND others spot welded on.(very curious) but all factory done.I'm speaking of the tab lip which a rubber seal sets on and touches the under side of the hood when closed to aid in radiator air flow. ( my applogies if this was redundant info)lol.
A tip here guys........I ALWAYS replace bolts with Stainless Steel to avoid the problem of later removal. Stainless can be painted black if needed.....just rough sand the surface or sand blast ,then paint. ( best done by ETCH prime..then paint)
