Working window

I'm very excited. For the first since I've had it, my drivers window opens and closes properly. I used to have to open the door to push the glass in while winding it up.

Just had to tell someone :)

I thought you were supposed to to wiggle the glass to get it all the way up. I did have a few bits left over when I rebuilt the doors so I guessed something was wrong.

I'm very happy for you Jon

Seriously though, you must be pleased. Mine hasn't worked properly either since I bought it in 2006. It's currently in it's worst state and in the 'jammed closed' position. :(

I don't have the window winder handles in mine, did they come as standard? :D

Might be why it gets so hot inside in summer

Mine doesn't wind up level. The front is lower than the back hence it has gaps when wound up all the way  I've stood and stared at it for hours but I can't figure out what needs doing to get it right
A good job I'm not into driving it in the rain :D

And I thought mine was the only one that didn't work!

Jake, mine had that problem too - I fixed that part by making a new lower hole for the lower mount of the guide channel (well, that's what Haynes call it).
I can take a photo if you like.

Jon, if you don't mind doing that it would be great. I've got the Haynes manual and have even stood and stared at that for hours as well, but still to no avail
I'm sure someone posted a how to adjustment guide recently.
Hmmm, I'll do some searching

Here's a couple of annotated pics of my window showing how I fixed it.

this is the trailing side of the door - showing the mounts for the 'channel guide'. Grey arrow is where the bottom mount of the guide used to be, black arrow shows where I moved it to. The guide guides the arm attached to the front of the window, so dropping the back of the guide raises the front of the glass relatively.

And this one is where the front sash bolts through - I put a spacer of about 1cm between the inner of the door and the sash guide, moving it 1cm towards the outside of the car. This titled the glass in the correct amount to line up with the window frame.
