Whining noise coming from the drivetrain when accelerating above 50mph

Hi,

Having recently got my 240z back on the road after quite a lot of work, I’ve noticed a bit of a whining noise coming from the drivetrain - couldn’t say precisely where. The noise is present whilst accelerating above 50mph - when i free wheel, the noise disappeared. Also, after about 5 mins the noise greatly reduced. Just wonder if it’s something really obvious?

I’m only now starting to enjoy the Datsun, so it could just be one of the noises these cars make. Welcome on tips on this, especially if it’s a worn part i should replace sooner rather than later.

Thanks, Graeme

I think it will either be bearings in the gearbox or the diff. Quite a bit of work to attempt to fix it. I've learned to love it :) If you get a louder exhaust you notice it less.
