Any idea what these door mirrors are? OEM? After market?

They are good quality, think aluminium die cast ...

2nd dumb question as a Newbie!

They are not OEM, they are aftermarket.

As an original Australian market car, your car would quite possibly have had 'fender mirrors' as standard equipment. However, anecdotally these were not all that popular there in period and many were replaced with more 'trad' fender-mount / wing-mount type mirrors - the type popular on British saloon cars of the 50s and 60s. You might find that your original wing-mounted mirrors were deleted and the mounting holes welded up and painted over.

UK market cars were usually fitted with quite large door mirrors. You could substitute these for your aftermarket pieces to give a more UK market look, but recent fashion is shunning them somewhat.

If you want to go for anything else, there's a huge choice out there.

Glad that I'm swimming against the trend-tide then as I certainly won't be putting wing mirrors on mine and I'm going for chrome and not painted.

Just do whatever you want but remove that cauliflower please :D

I notice in that pic the wrap around indicator lenses are clear and the wing/fender ones are deleted.

Did any cars come like that as OEM in any country?

My guess is that my car is as supplied in 71, but the the addition of the door mirrors. I'm ok with the door mirrors - different!

Might be the case, but should be fairly easy to ascertain whether it's had any original holes in the tops of the front wings welded up and painted over.

I did ask in your other thread whether the car still had its original Australian compliance plate in the engine bay. Is it still there?

I believe it is. Would it be on drivers side mounted on the inner wing inside the engine bay? I only had about 30 mins with the car when I bought it. I do know it has Australian Special car status if that means anything ?
