want to try Hilllclimbing?

Oi'll be there wiv me shotgun ready to blare " Get orrrff my land"

Seriously, if anyone wants to have a go at gurston, it's such fun, I learnt to drive a car on this hill and regularly blast up the hill in the latest purchase.

The day will be next year now as all the places for the last school are booked. A day at the school consists of instruction on how to drive Gurston and an introduction to hillclimbing. There is a short classroom session followed by a walk up the hill pointing out apex, turn in points and the like, there are marker cones out to indicate these points. Then there are 2 convoy runs following the instructrors and then I think it is 8 runs up the hill on your own. During these runs you are observed by 3 instructors at seperate points on the hill and marked on your efforts. After 2 runs the instructors return to the paddock to give advice on the progress being made. Then again after 2 more. The day is untimed as it is more about an introduction to hillclimbing and learning to drive Gurston than who can go the fastest. An excellent lunch is provided with refreshments throughout the day all inclusive. The school days are always fully booked and are really an fun day out without pressure or worry. I will leave it to Dee to see about the price and she will let you know asap

A quote from the BARC website:

The course itself is a narrow tarmac road about 12 feet wide, 1057 yards from start to finish, rising a total of 140 feet, although uniquely, cars plunge downhill off the startline at Gurston, some accelerating to speeds of around 130 mph in five or six seconds. A tight section of bends brings the cars down to around 25 mph before the uphill blast to the twisty finish line, where the fastest recorded speed is 150 mph....

It's very fast but you won't be troubling the records in a Z!

35.25 seconds at the moment with speed trap speeds of 91 in hollow and 93 over the finish. Watch the video clip and the hollow speed trap is at the end of the trees on the way down the hill
