Valvolene VR1 oil

Picked up a 5L bottle of Valvolene Racing VR1 synthetic blend 10w-60w oil for £15.00
Is this oil ok for my 260z? L6 engine standard.
Its a semi synthetic 10w-60w oil.
Is this too heavy for my car etc.
Existing oil is Millers classic sport 20-50w
Just wanted to know if I am doing the right thing here, and if anyone has had experience with this oil.

Well I would think it was ok. I used that grade in my track 240Z because of low oil pressure when hot.

I guess my car won't be running so hot so will not thicken up quite as much, shouldn't use so much oil as well. Using about 1L per 1000miles is that ok?

If I understand it correctly the oil doesn't thicken up as it gets hot it just doesn't thin as much as a single grade oil.

So when it's hot it acts like a 60 oil would, it will still be thinner than when cold. When it's cold it acts like a 10 oil so gets around the engine ok.

Does that make sense?

Well explained, so the ultimate oil would be something like 0w-60w as that would be flow really well at startup and as the engine heats up still retains its viscosity.?

i use Valvoline in my racer and have used their products for over 30 years and never had any issues

wow

What a differance!!
Took car out for a thrash seemed reluctant to rev to 6000revs.
Changed oil and filter and toped up gearbox, it took 500ml to fill so must have been a little low.
Road tested car it now revs to 6500 and feels like I've gained 10hp. Can oils do this??
Feels stronger and smoother, think Ill be using this oil again!!
