Gav, I was more tempted by the S30 look (2+2 260Z) but in Z32, why not ?
Of course over here there are very strict laws on what can be modified (or in most cases not be !) !
Could always register the car inthe UK - cost of a Z32 with dead engine ? And the SBC of course ?

Ah you mean one of these?....

That wouldn't by any chance be a Rolls Royce Merlin would it ????? Spitfire engine ????????

Making a Z with a V8 go immensely fast in a straight line is cheap, cheerful and easy peasy. Making one go stick to a twisty track with the best of them takes a bit more thought and a load more money but is eminently "do-able".

The plan is all based around chassis integrity and suspension - weight distribution will be virtually the same and the total weight will only be a little more so the issue is not really any different to making a straight six handle.

Hey Jez,

what keeps the operater from flying off into the school wall ?

And that Corvette engine DOES fit in nicely !

As Andy says, 'anyone can fit a V8' - making it handle is another thing - do-able even :) !
Welcome back to the land of the living mate - how are you ?

Living.....that's about it really :D Thanks for the welcome back

Being taken in on 27th for a significant electric jolt with a defibrilator to try and reset everything :D

Obviously there is a huge amount of information on this subject over on www.hybridz.org. I think Steve has the right approach with the LS1/T56 combo in the S30 body. The S30 is the most receptive to a V8 conversion and the LS1/T56 is by far the most technoligically advanced/simplest installation - especially if you can get it from an American F-body donor car - Firebird or Camarao 1998-2002.

My 1977 280Z California model was the prototype for the conversion kit offered by Johns Cars, Inc - www.brokenkitty.com. The LS1 in my car is from a 1998 Camaro and, with no internal engine modification is putting 311 HP to the rear wheels. That's about 365 HP at the flywheel with a stock - read "reliable" - motor.
