Unusual R200 Long Nose Diff Setup

So today I picked up the remaining parts from a lovely chap over in Telford. One of the parts I grabbed was the rear suspension and diff set up (actually I took most the car apart from the engine and rear shell)...

It appears that the diff is the stronger type R200 LSD 3.9, it was supposedly rebuilt so I’m assuming it was an open case originally and someone dropped some money into it...

However from what I can see it makes the use of the non turbo 280ZX CV axles? But I don’t know what companion flanges are used and the look to retain the stock stub axles.

Anyone any thoughts on the companion flanges used?

I think that looks like the 4 pinion open diff from the z31 long nose r200. Which may also have had CVs...

Hi Jon,

Im pretty certain it’s an LSD, despite both wheels turning the same way it has the ramps and cross pin shaft shape of the stronger LSD from Nissan

Some interesting parts there Dan but I really don't think they should be used on an early car :). I had a similar cv's setup that was on my blue car. I just used the 240 and 280 companion flanges, cut them both down and welded them back together.

Hey johny,

Undecided yet may save it still for a right handrive car, seems overkill for my target power - relatively stock L28 on TB’s.
