Silencer for competition use

My 240 appears to have one of the MJP Turbo systems fitted, which has got a bit noisier in the past few days. There are no holes or leaks in the system, so I suspect that the baffles are stuck in the straight thru position.

Will be doing a hillclimb in three weeks, so I suspect that it won't pass the Noise Test (108dBa). Does anyone know if the Turbo system will pass this test, if I get a new silencer, or is there another silencer folks use.

For info it's a 2.5 inch system with only a back box.

Cheers

I would think the turbo will provide some silencing which why a system for a turbo car can get away with only a rear silencer. Not familier with the "MJP turbo System" but I'm guesing it mates with the 280zx turbo kit?

108dba is pretty loud. The system on my car has a smallish single box and just about makes it under 105dba. As a back up I always take along a small bolt on silencer, essential for places like goodwood or combe where the local NIMBY's complain about the noise.

If it helps, my car has the MSA 2.5" system which has a single back box - what they call the 'turbo muffler'.
It's about 100dba - It has passed scrutineering to 100dba at both castle coombe and bedford aerodrome.

Have they gone soft over there now Mike.
When I was over for the speed weekend Kirkiston, craigantlet and Nutts corner there were complaints that the car was not load enough.
Have a good one

I'm afraid the Fun Police from Colnbrook, caught onto the fact that we hadn't been doing them, so a Decree Absolute was issued and now they are carried out in compliance with the regs, and I won't say anymore than that !!

Craigantlet in three weeks, so looking forward to giving the car a little light exercise

Cheers
