Yes, Richard's death is very sad, his family must be devastated.
My thoughts are also with Robert Reid (his co-driver) and Marko Martin. Marko was in his car when he collapsed 2 years ago, he got them safely to the side of the road. Marko of course has also recently 'lost' his co-driver Michael Park.
My kids first memories of rallying are when we visited a service area (near MIRA Nuneaton) on the old style RAC Rally in the early nineties. Richard was an 'up and coming' young driver and kindly gave them his autograph. They followed his career from then on. In 2003 we went to watch the Tour-de-Corse and once again met up with him. I think he only did one more rally (Spanish) after that.
He had a really smooth style and seemed 'at one' with the Impreza a great driver.
