beautiful place, great day

My thought too.

Highlight of my day................................... Watching a 225bhp FORD CAPRI take two 400bhp hybrid zeds apart on the track.

Yes we had a great day. I'll upload some pics/vids ASAP.

Judging by the smiles on some of the guys faces they really enjoyed it - Madmarco had the biggest grin, he really gave that NA Z32 a good thrashing.

Darren and John get faster every time out. In fact Darren was very impressive and John was hindered by his lack of decent brakes and suspension but he gave a great display of 'get out there with what you have got'.

Rob Smith was going well in his Z32 but I fear a head gasket has gone.

Ian in his Z32 was going very well (nice to meet you Ian) and Ken gave his recently purchased 350Z a good outing but his road tyres didn't like the hot conditions.

Well done guys.

Thanks to Rob G for sorting another day out for us. It was yet another fin weather day. We did not have Z only sessions and were out with some of the loonies

I found first session to be a bit of a traffic jam and it became obvious that most of the drivers must have been to a different briefing than us. Or just did not pay any regard to the organizers overtake rules. Never mind we all finish the session safely and had some fun which is what its all about.

Second session I got in the queue a bit earlier so had less traffic jams to contend with. Also I think I must have been to another briefing the same one that the others had earlier. Using the extra overtake areas and not staying in line and allowing slower cars pass “in no overtake areas” I soon found some clear track up front. Pity that my engine had a fit and I had to cut the session short.

I may have paid the price for doing a quick and dirty fix to get the car out at the last Drag meet and Japfest. Not looked at it yet be the old head gasket I hade to reuse may have blown.

Had a great day, thanks Rob for organizing it. With 2 track sessions under my belt and some on board coaching from Matt I made it through without any incidents. Still taking it easy and trying to learn how to go round a track. Made the effort to keep a check on who was coming up behind me and pull over to let them pass rather than fight them off and have a accident.

Pete. If you were refering to me, I'd love to have 400bhp but my bank balance won't alow me to get anywhere near this in the forseeable future. Didn't realise you were a closett Ford Capri lover or do you just not like hybrid 240z owners?

Oh, and just to clarify. You are talking about the stripped out wide bodied race car with all ali and fiberglass bodywork, proper suspension, and wide full race slicks. Just so were clear about the car I pulled over to let pass.

Never mind Johny that’s life. As with any car related pastime there are the multipurpose vehicles and the purpose built jobs and there are specialist competitive drivers and the multipurpose pleasure drivers. Then there are the fence-sitting commentators who have difficulty describing the differences.

I loved the mad little cappuchino that was running towards the end, looked to be about the fastest thing out all day!

Here is John and 'that' Capri.

Yes that was really well sorted, it had a bike engine in it, slicks, Ohlin shocks etc It was the quickest car I saw all day.

Yeah I had a great day as well. It's a nice track and there was a good turn out of members and thanks to Rob for organising this. Already looking forward to next year.

A really enjoyable day.

I will definitely be on the list next year

Nice shots Marco/Rob

Guys, respectfully you are maybe missing the point that Pete was making, that being a low budget car that had concentrated on lightness, stopping power, and cornering, didn’t need big power to achieve great results......or in the words of Colin Chapman "to add speed, add lightness"

Rob you need to put me in the category of "fence-sitting commentators" however I have done more than my fair share of laps on several tracks, including Mallory, Silverstone, Coombe... and Donington under experienced guidance and full professional tuition and IMHO both cars are in need of upgrades, (both drivers are fully aware)

I must add all of this is intended to be constructive; the last thing any of us wants to hear is that someone on this forum (or any forum for that matter) had just wrapped themselves around an Armco barrier or wiped out a crowded bus stop.
