Power steering conversion

Thought so, its a good cheap solution, apparently they spent so much developing the system that even now they've not broke even on that component yet.

I understand it would be easier, Just more why? I guess it removes a bit of feel and depending on what rack/how its done it can change the character of the car too?

It's speed sensitive so you only get assisted steering at very low speeds. ie. Parking and traffic driving. When you get up to the point where you need the feed back the steering weights up as if there is no assistance. It can also be switched off completely by removing the control wire to the steering ecu.

The speed sensor screws into the back of the speedo and attaches to ecu so there is no buggering about with gear box sensors. It's also a piece of piddle to fit as the column is a direct replacement for the original.

So you see no improvement at speed? Just when driving slow. The reason I ask is that I really have to hold on to the wheel when hard cornering round the track and though it may make this a little easier. Not that bothered about slow speeds as I only run 225 tyres so the steering' s not too heavy.

Some pictures of my set up i have a speed sensor fitted the the drivers side front hub that tells the control box just how fast the car is going.

It all mounts to the pedal box by some brackets that i made and i did cut some of the pedal box away to allow the electric motor to sit better.

The main power steering ECU is up behind the dash.
