Paint codes

Hi all

I've tried searching through the forum for paint codes.

I have an orange US 240z which I'm slowly restoring & just preparing for future paint. Can anyone help me out with a paint code for the ORANGE used with the European/UK market?

I have found the US paint code to be 918, but when I spoke to my paintshop it didn't match anything they had on their system. I also too a look at some of their Datsun swatches but there are quite a few oranges.

I took this photo at the Ace Cafe meet a few months back, where it shows my car to be a fair bit lighter than the one on the right (it has had a typical american blow over)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Well the one on the right has not got a paint code :) its based on a tinting product for paints

think the best thing you could do is remove one of the locker lids behind the seat and have it matched, there are places that will use an electronic spectrum eye to do this and then do a test paint for the naked eye to inspect

THanks tel, I hope you have the formula for yours incase you ever need paint to match in the future. Ideally I want to keep to an original colour, not specifically the colour curently on the car, but I'm quite tempted with something a little more exciting

The Camaro is painted to the latest Orange used on the Lamborghini Aventadors & is absolutely stunning.

The paint on the inside of the car is a lot richer, obviously it hasn't been sun bleached over the years & the exterior paint job is clearly no where near that colour

I previously found these codes on a US website http://zhome.com/History/colors.html

Hmm now you have me thinking?

It's definitely more orange than red on the original unmolested panels,

I think I'll speak again with my paint man & see if I can borrow his Datsun swatches, I doubt he uses them on a daily basis

I have just seen the pictures, 918 is what I want it to be & the exterior although a little faded is pretty much there, perhaps it was originally 110, I see that also came with the White interior option

Thanks for the help guys. I think I have got to the bottom of this now,

It appears that the original colour of my car was indeed 110 Red & the exterior has been repainted somewhere near 918 Orange.

Above is the bonnet inspection panel with the top coat of paint ground off on the corner against the cubby hole lid from inside the car

Now I have the dilemma of deciding which colour to go for, I like them both just as much

Don't ever remember ever seeing an orange 240/260z here in the UK during the 70's. I can recall white (really showed off the rust streaks to perfection around headlights, indicators and lower door edges), deep blue (my favorite colour for these cars), green (awful) and silver. There may also have been a brown but I can't be sure.

I do - funnily enough, one of my earliest memories (I'd have been about two or three and was in my pushchair!). It was a 260Z 2+2 parked in front of the local shops. I vividly remember looking at it as I was pushed past.

Blimey! Sadly I was first driving in 71! Amazed that you identified a 2+2 against a 2 seater at that age:eek:. Sure it wasn't a Silver Cross GT?.

It wasn't until after Id got my Z and saw an orange 2+2 at a show that I realised what the car was. I can still picture it from my pushchair eye's view!

Apologies for bringing another thread back from the dead but it's relevant I promise - here's the codes I can find for the '72 918 - has anyone painted theirs using these?

Hi Hope this helps. I had a friend of my brother who is a porche specialist to mix me some touch up paint to match my 1974.260z 2+2. and when he gave it me he told me it was 110 red. It was a perfect match.I think he got the formula from Nissan.
