On this day in history...

Could the climatic conditions have been called ideal ?

If you call a morning of rain and some afternoon showers ideal...

Full marks to Santa Pod for their improved RWYB track prep regime - they worked hard to get things presentable for the afternoon, but were still up against constant threat of dampness throughout the day. Air quality and density probably very good - some of the "real" race cars were running PBs and a Fuel bike ran a 6.5 at 169 mph! RH lane was the place to be and that was where Steve did his best run.

Could the climatic conditions have been called ideal ?

Temperature 8-10 degrees (good for air intake, bad for the track)
Humidity moderate to low (50-60%) this is good a too much humidity displaces the oxygen
Air pressure moderate to high (1025mb) (helps cylinder fill)
Slight tail(ish) wind, fading out towards the afternoon.
Track prep 8.5/10

Overall I would call it "favourable"

Ideal would be
18-20 degrees
Dry as a bone (hadnt rained for a while)
High air pressure
10/10 track prep

All of that can make a couple of tenths differance which might not seem a lot but at 100 mph thats a couple of car lengths.

Brilliant stuff Steve. Just shows what can be done if you are determined. To get into 12's is simply awesome.

The 240 in front of you needed a turbo and nitrous to beat you by a tenth. Definitely got the 'skills to pay the bills' that boy. Did you turn your cap 'round before getting in your car for the last run..?
