NISMO exhaust

:S30: mmmm must of mist that bit lol. have you any info on that system? maybe a fourways header and that system possibly??? giving better flow with a nice sound to it.

cheers

martin

I don't have any length measurements, but think it was 2" diameter.

It bolted off the back of the header with a long "cherry bomb" style silencer just past the gearbox and a smaller one at the rear.

For mild street engines, pretty much any tubular header and larger bore system will be an improvement over stock, with only a 3% power difference between an “in tune” and an “out of tune” exhaust. However, as mild approaches near race, you could be looking at a 10% power difference. On an engine capable of producing 250bhp, that’s an expensive loss.

I'd still go for a 6 into 2 header though.

:S30: thanks for the info ill look into it a bit more but think ill go for the fourways header to start, that will be more than enough for my engine i think then see what options there are maybe evan go for there full system if it fits a 2+2????? that would make things more simple for me.

cheers
martin.

Martin,
No reason Fourways system won't fit a 2 by 2, all that's required is a bit more length of pipe. Have seen standard 260 systems that are exactly the same as a 2 by 2, except for a additional bit of pipework to fit in between the two sections. From what I remember (?) the Fourways header was a 6 into 1, I'm with Zedhead260....go with a 6 into 2 if you can, but I have no idea what's avail (easily). except for the Nismo one, which not being made anymore, so I understand and thus "stocks" are running out/on back order in the US.

Cheers

:S30: just got off the phone from fourways there header is a 6-2-1 type in stainless:thumbs: price is ok too and the system can have a piece made to fit the 2+2:thumbs: its a twin box system so not too much noise. so found the header and ill think about the rest for a little longer not sure if i would like a bit more noise or not

cheers

:S30: at this point i would say not but you never know how you will feel when your car is all sorted and handling well so it may be a posibility ???
as that sort of thing would be a bit new to me i would need advice about it my racing was done on tarmac ovals so different rules probably

cheers martin

I have their header and full system on my 2+2, it will fit, you need a tube between the manifold down pipes and the 1 piece system they do. The gearbox support will no longer fit the Exhaust so I cut mine and used a strap to secure the exhaust to the box so there is no strain placed on the manifold. It is not too loud, infact even on long distance driving I find myself wanting to put my foot down so I can hear it a little more:D

There is always Janspeed? mine has been on since the restoration in early 90s but it is only 1 3/4 inch bore.

Just looked at their price list & both manifold & system look reasonably priced & they are stainless & they look readily available.

:S30: the price in there add is not corect i wrote it down at work but think it was header £349 or £399 +vat and system was £299 +vat??? but ill look when i get to work in the morning and confirm. its on the shelf at fourways now..

Gwyn do you mean the actual 1 from your car or as in a new 1 from jannspeed???????? if its yours whats it like and how much??? pm me with info.

It is just a wave of parallel tubes... very nice!

I'm stuck as what to do with my exhaust, it seriously grounded out on friday night and is now blowing badly and rattling against the chassis as the tolerances were too close.

I'm tempted to cut the oversized centre section out which is hanging too low and replace it with either a straight through pipe to the Bosal back box or stick a Cherry Bomb in the middle. then when funds allow replace the the whole bodged job.

looking at the downpipes they are in good nick and are the 6-2-1 setup which to be honest i won't look to replace until it breaks...can anyone advise on the two options above as i don't fancy forking out £340 quid this month for a custom Stainless build.

seems to me the minute i get the car back on the road something wants to take it off again...:smash:

Thanks in advance,
Nick
