New Coilovers!!

 Hello everybody,

Just bought some coilovers for my 300. They are the new TEIN Mono flex kits direct from Japan. Now I know what many of you are thinking. I've heard a lot of people say that going the way of the TEIN brand is a bad bad idea due to corrosion problems and failures in some models. This is true of the cheaper end of the kits but I've listened to some testomonials of people who have bought, fitted and tested these new mono flex kits and they love them. I've heard nothing but good reviews about these babies, so decided to take the plunge. Was a bit annoyed as I had to fork out extra for them because of Japan hiking up their prices, but oh well. Now I got my hands on a set. :D
I've been running on stock suspension for the last 4 years since I bought the car. Changing from stock to a coilover setup will most likely be a shock to the system and drastically change how the car will feel and handle.

I'm looking for a garage that can both fit these coilovers and align the car afterwards as well. I did have a telephone number for a garage in Milton Keynes who would do it for £200 but managed to lose that.

My local garage says it would be roughly an 90 minutes per coilover to fit the whole kit and they would charge me something like £400 upwards!!

Can anyone offer any advice on where to get them fitted and aligned?

Help much appreciated.

When you mean alligned what do you mean? Height alligned or 4 wheel alligned.

If its just 4 wheel alligned, fit them yourself and then go to a garage to get the weels alligned again. 4 wheel allignment near where I live is about £25-30

My geography is awful, so not sure if petrol to trek here would cost more in the long run but I have had lots of work done to 4 cars all done at a garage that I trust completley. I had a full set of Koni shocks fitted to my Saab 93 and they charged me £25 a corner then I had her laser aligned after for £75 I do know if you ask nicely and pay in pound notes you may get a bit of a better deal. The number for these guys is 01706 526677 they are called Duke Street Auto's and are based in Rochdale. Give them a bell and see what they say for your car in the current climate they may have put the prices up but no harm in trying. The best guys to speak to are the owner Luciano and head mechanic Adi.
Hope this helps and have fun when you do get it done.

I think Rochdale is a bit too far for me mate. That's round Manchester way I believe which is miles away from Watford. Thanks though.

I'm not sure what the heck I mean to be honest. I was told that after a suspension upgrade the whole car would need an alignment. I guess this would mean just the wheels.

Go down to Garage D in Watford. Its run by Julian Smith, who is a pro drifter. They have an excellent reputation within the drift community and Skyline crowd and work regularly on high powered cars. All jobs from engine conversions, chassis, set up etc etc.... I dont have a number for the garage, but try skyline owners forum or driftworks:thumbs:

Thanks to Datsfun and Elitetech for that info!

Will give them both a look in and see what sort of deals they can offer. I had no idea there was a place in Watford that specialised in that kind of work. So much for living in Watford all my life! just when you think you know a place.... :D

Did you get front and rear upper adjustable camber arms( and front tension rods) as well ? Without them you will not be able to correct the alignment after lowering the car on Coilovers.

If you intend to keep the stock ride height (not sure the monoflex will actually allow the car to sit that high) then adjustable arms and alignment will not be needed.

The stock rear arms have a little adjustment in them as standard, but the fronts do not have any.

I wasn't planning on lowering the car really. There are too many speed bumps where I live. Since I've put on the 18" alloys I hardly ever scrape the lower lip of the bumper now. If I lower it when the kit is fitted I'll only be wincing as tarmac scratches off my paintwork again!

Might consider lowering in the future though but not right now :D I've just got my EDFC and stepper motors kit. I don't know how different the car will be. Never driven a car with coilovers before. Sorry if I sound like a newbie novice but I'm kinda excited about it. Car could do with a service right now as its tending to cut out for split seconds when I drive away from cold and nearly almost stalled when I pulled away from a roundabout. Harder I pressed the pedal theemore it wouldn't go anywhere. Never happened before. Therefore, time for a full service which unfortunately I can't do for a few weekd as the garage I take it to is fully booked.

I've been told adding coilovers will transform the car and it'll be driving as if you're on rails? I look forward to it.
