Alright well i have my 91 tt 300zx. I took it into a Nissan dealership to get it checked out and find out what all the problems were because my car had all of a sudden lost A LOT of power and i didnt know why. They told me that pretty much my entire engine was leaking, #6 coil wasnt firing, and I needed new spark plugs and injectors, but everything else on the car was fine. Now, I dont know what to do i was thinking about buying a new engine, or parting the rest of the car out and having to buy a little beater to get me around :( . So i need some input and suggestions from everyone because im just really lost and dont know what to do. If anyone could also help with getting a good engine or any advice along those lines let me know as well. Thanks a lot everyone.

Hi,
Personally I would get a second opinion from an independent Z specialist before buying anything!....Nissan dealers generally don't know their @rse from their elbow!
You may have a boost leak or be running in safety boost or have one of a load of other reasons for your problem!

Deffo get 2nd opinon mate, how they guessed all yer injectors were naffed i don't know  What part of the UK you in ? Jeff at Zedworld in Tamworth is worth the journey to visit. Whilst engine is running you can disconnect a coil pack at a time and the engine noise should change. 2nd hand coil packs are cheap and a set of spark plugs at around 55 quid. A boost leak test as suggested above is highly possible and a tester will find it within minutes, so all in all at this stage yer looking at minimal cash to be sorted again.

Visigoth is one of uncle Sam's men so bit of a long trip to Jeffs place!!!!!
Check the terminology!!! we dont do "parting out " in the UK do we????
And JeZ's comments about Nissan Dealers doesnt apply to the US, where plenty of them know what they are doing, eg Courtesey Nissan!

Hi,
I was wondering if he's from the US or Oz but the comment about dealerships still stands as, from my time on Z31.com, I know lots of owners had bad experiences with Nissan Mandellas!

yah im very sorry that i didnt fill in the location or anything i just registered the other day because i was looking for some different opinions. I am from the US (dont know if thats a good thing or a bad thing :)). So i take it that taking it to an independent z specialist and get a second opinion would be the best thing to do. If anyone happens to know of a place in southern california that would be great. I live in a city called Temecula its about halfway between L.A. and San Diego.

Fraid i dunno who to go to in your area bud, however you can pick up a boost leak tester for around $45-50, a spare coil pack for around $30 and a set of NGK 6B-11B Spark plugs for around $75, in changing these you have to remove the coil packs anyways so you can alaways make sure each one is fitted/connected correctly and then do the boost leak test. An ECU diagnostic is easy to do as well. You certainly don't need any specialist help with these little jobs :)

thanks alot everyone for the input. I will have to try to find myself a specialist and get it retested and possibly even do some of the tests myself.

Thanks

Steve Millen Sports Cars (Stillen) in Costa Mesa must be your nearest specialist - Google Earth says it is about 70 miles for you, but a bit of a trip round the heavy terrain to your west. Also shows an interesting looking mountain road you could take - probably not with your Z playing up.

If you tell us your road name we should be able to see your Z parked in the drive as resolution is good in your area.

Number for Stillen is 800-405-2808. They are at 3176 Airway, near the John Wayne County Airport. Tell 'em Mike sent you!

Amazing stuff - spy in the sky for Zed parking !!

Useful security tool that - keep an eye on the precious car from above

What's reception like over here in the UK

What do you see on my drive ? - RG5 3SA - No 24

Anybody visiting my wife while I'm stuck here at work in the middle of the night ?

If they can find any more parking space on my drive then they're probably in a Smart car or on a pushbike :)

You were happy to provide your post code, but if you have any objections to this being published let me know straight away and I'll take it down! Wonderful tool Google Earth - combine with Multimap and no-one is safe. You can just see Grolls hiding alongside the car on your drive.

You can home in closer than this in your area, but I thought this general shot would let you see that it was your road - I don't really know which one is #24 either! :)

I just love Google Earth, but sadly my own area is just a green and brown low-res blur still. Obviously our secret nuclear bunker just up the road is not deemed important any more for high-res surveillance.

The game I liked on a site the other day was spot the black helicopters - homing in on high security area airports and remote installations in the desert are good places to look! Maybe around Baghdad....?
