My Datsun [few q's]

is it possible to get a honeycomb style grille?

Yes, some of the JDM market cars had them, I know Status has one on his car.....

Just spotted some new door cars, but they are about $1600 for the pair....

My understanding re air tubes, the say, for the UK/Europe cars, all the 240z had them, the early 260z also, as they were basically a 240z with some changes. I think, with most 260z changes, this was towards the end of 1976, but would have to confirm with looking at the parts microfiche (which can be a wealth of knowledge)

Gear knob and steering wheel are nothing like original and wheels are non-period. Not sure about the side mirrors but otherwise looks really nice. Best thing which dash cracks is to drill a 2mm dia hole at the last visible point and then to fill with a black gun-applied silicone sealant. Don't over-do the amount used and when set rub over with a finger and spillage either side will rub off. The result wont be perfect but will be pretty good.

IMO:

Yep as Andrew says don't do too much, your car looks amazing just spend the money on meeting us - bring it to Mallory Park on 18 May!

Gear knob - get a nice tactile wooden one to match the steering wheel.

Seats - yep they look tired - but please don't get orange ones or orange trimming. Good black top quality recliners (with support) would be best. Too much Orange = ' You've been Tango'd '.

Door cards - keep an eye out for good standard ones - it may take a while.

Great car - don't rush into anything.

Thanks for the advice, Rob!

I'm going a bit OTT on the chrome these days - just bought some chrome door locking knob things...

I think i agree with you on the 'too much orange' actually, i just would love to stop it looking quite so dated ( I realise that is the point with classic cars but if i keep all the original parts then why not! )

Cheers,

Guy

Guy, as I said don't rush into anything. Make friends on here, go to some 'meets' and things will happen.

That's what I did 16 years ago and have enjoyed Zs ever since.

Garage - yep I'm in the same 'boat' too. Need to fit a new road spring to my daughter's Golf this weekend and if it rains I get wet!

-- i hope it didn't rain for you last weekend! What events are you going to this year?
