Greeting to all
Someone knows the history of the mirrors on the fenders?
the 240Z has had mirrors on the fenders.
How many types of mirrors?
In which markets?
The 260z had the same mirrors?
Thanks

mirrors on the fenders were mainly found on the JDM cars and some export markets,UK cars had universal mirrors fitted the same as MGB and other 1970s cars and Nissan OEM door mirrors were also available for USA ,Australia etc .
in a nutshell there are quite a few different types of mirrors depending on which country where the cars were being sold at the time and what dealer options were also available

FWIW. I have a NZ new 240Z and when I purchased it 11 years ago and stripped the paint from the front guards I discovered where some previous owner had welded patches where the mirrors would have been. I assume by this that NZ new 240Zs came with mirrors on the guards.

The first series 240Z has a round mirror on the fender.
(On some markets, of course)

The last series 240Z mount these mirrors in the photo?
(See link for photos)
Surely the 260z had these mirrors on the fenders.

No one has pictures in some book or magazine, or parts catalog, video clips, ?
thanks

The 240Z / JDM S30 etc., 1969 - 1973, fender mirror option has part numbers 96301-E4100 (RH) and 96302-E4100 (LH) - these are the black, round face mirrors. I have had stock of these and can confirm that appearance.
These mirrors continued into the 260Z / S30 models (late 1973 and onwards), but another option was added - part numbers 96301-N3400 and 96302-N3400. I've never had any and can't positively confirm, but perhaps these are the chrome smoother versions that are in your pictures?

The fender mirrors in your pictures were for Japanese market only, and were introduced on the S31 range in July 1976, which included the following models:

*S31-S 'Fairlady Z' 2-seater coupe
*S31 'Fairlady Z-L' 2-seater coupe
*S31-J 'Fairlady Z-T' 2-seater coupe
*GS31-S 'Fairlady Z' 2/2
*GS31 'Fairlady Z-L' 2/2
*GS31-J 'Fairlady Z-T' 2/2

'Deluxe' versions of these mirrors featured electric remote adjustment, via 'joystick' controls under the dash.

Oh to have such a well equiped interior.

Is the choke lever missing (not required), or is it just not quite visable ?

I've got a wing mirror I got from MSA a few years ago for my 260z - part number 96301-E4600.
I naively imagined it would match the drivers side mirror already on the car.

It's chrome and flat and rectangular...
