Manifold design

Skiddy,

experience and just plain looking over the fence at the Japanese does suggest that the 'Y' pipe should become one a LOT further back - I think this info was made available to you long ago, several years in fact ?

That could be the driver.:driving:

Your point being oh French buddy of mine

Point being Mr Pie-man is that as a reasonable authority on upgrades and having done a more than reasonable amount of testing, breaking, listening and proof collating, you might be expected to have an unbiased opinon on this latest crafted header and can also testify that 'Y' joints should be way, way back and explain why.......
;)

We're all here to learn.

There's more of course (you know me) but one step at a time.

The phrase "intellectual property rights" springs to mind.
A few people in the world of zeds have spent large amounts of their own time and money in the quest for more pwer speed etc.
Some have done it to further their own business interests and some for their own personal satisfaction..
In all those cases the information and knowledge gained becomes the intellectual propery of the person or persons involved.
I see no reason why any of them should share this hard won information for free with a generally parasitic audience of free loaders.
I do recognise that in any club there needs to be an element of cooperation and knowledge sharing to promote the well being of the club. But the extent of that disemination of knowledge will be up to the individual..

Err yeah...but I'm trying to tell you that a far back placed join between the two pipes into one was already on a Janspeed manifold which is ages old and no-one's disproved that yet. And how did they learn that ? The Japanese were doing it before, I bet !

This isn't secret knowledge Pete - my point is it's been common knwoledge for ages so why would a top exhaust manufacturer who doesn't know L gata make one up with the joins before the bulkhead ?

Re YOUR point, it's often bemoaned that UK 'investers' in such quest for knwoldge don't share it as per the states but imho :

a) they're right not to share - experience costs !
b) there is open discussion in the states but those that know don't say much

Anyway............I'm putting my old system back on :)

I went for a drive yesterday with the new manifold and exhaust and its just too low for the back country roads where I live........It hit road road in a few spots on my 10 mile journey into town. on around town it was no problem at all, even got over 2 speed bumps......but I wont be able to go anywhere in peace,

The sound was fantastic and it seems to rev out much quicker.........I'll make a single system during the winter sometime but for now im going to put the old one back on, minus the middle silencer. the stainless system is going to dublin.

It was 4 inches off the ground sean.......The lowest point was right at the back just before the pipes go into the silencer........1 pipe has to go below the other and I just dont have the clearance for these roads. If I were living in town it would be fine.

I don't understand - mine is 8cm (3.2") and doesn't ground - how soft are your shockers or how much weight are you carrying (don't mean to be personal :) )?

You would understand if you seen the roads I drive on, as I said around town it not problem at all, its the 10 miles in and out of town that are the problem, My shocks are standard, that wouldn't help, also im 6'1 and 18 stone, that doesn't help either :D

I'll get coilovers at some stage and make up another system, a guy in dublin was going to buy my old manifold and exhaust but im going to reuse that so Im selling him the stainless system, he's is for a 2+2 and is not lowered so should be fine.

Do you live up a farm track ? The roads I drive around on here are 'C' roads, a lot of 'em where when you meet tractors, you sh*t in yer pants and breathe in ! They are also very curved so driving in the middle seriously increases the risk of grounding.

Yes I do indeed live on a farm and im surrounded by farms also.........when I meet even a car I have to slow to about 10mph to get by, thats how narrow the roads are around here, bumps, hollows and holes everywhere!!
