Longleat Hillclimb Video

Hi
Thanks for that, Longleat is one Hagley get an invite to each year and I've been toying with the idea of a stay a centre parcs and a thrash through the 'lions lair'

I'll store the vid with one I've got of Trac Mon' (Anglesey in car) for secret night time 'practice runs'

Must say the old Z'ed sounds sweet and crisp:bow:

Cheers

Nigel

Normally run around 18psi in the back tyres. Tends to vary by a couple of psi depending on the temperature.
The back end of the car hopping is due to spring rates being a little too hard. The set up I run is a compromise for both hillclimbs and sprints. Just about right for smooth surfaces at most sprints, but skips a little on the bumpier stuff.

Thanks, i thought it was skipping because you have so much power:)
I was just curious because now I have 17/40/255's on my car I'm not sure what psi to run it on, I have 22 at the mo and it seems ok. I guess there must be a scientific way of calculating the correct rate

Dont confuse road tyre pressures and slick tyre pressures. They do not interchange succesfully. 18 psi in a road tyre would be exciting!!!!!!!!!!!!! where as some people are running slicks as low as 12 psi. It is a different world. cheers ben

Yes great video and well driven. The car is still a beauty and sounds fantastic, I have fond memories of it when Dave drove it at Goodwood (1999 I think). Ben you were in your 240 that day too.

Phil

No books available that I am aware of, but I am sure both Ben and myself would be happy to advise. If you are sticking with running the car in roadgoing form (inc tax & mot) then very few mods are needed to compete. However, there are so many variables depending on different regs & class structures for different events. Also if you run your V8 you will be placed in a 'Sports Libre' class against some very fast hybrid machinery.
Gurston Down nr Salisbury running a cracking Hillclimb School. That's how I started out. Everyone is very helpful and happy to answer questions. Check out the Guston website. http://www.gurstondown.org/
Feel free to drop me a pm.

Hi phil, twoforty and anyone else that want to try hillclimbing. As ken has said the advise is available form either of us, dee would also offer any advise to the fairer members of the club that felt like having a go at a sport that really needs more female participants. There are a couple of books available but to be honest the best way to find out is to get a copy of the MSA 'blue book' which gives all the regs that the car and driver have to comply to and then talk to those competing in the sport and go along to meetings to see how it all works. It is one of the friendliest places to be in a hillclimb paddock. For all you drag strip racers this is the natural progression as it really is a drag event with some corners thrown in and further distance(although some of the cornish hills are only 500 yds)
As with ken please feel free to PM or email any of us for advise. Cheers ben and dee

Hi rob yes that was a great day. We had been at aintree the day before at a sprint meeting. I have good memories of that day as I let my little brother take the car out for 6 laps. The smile on his face was unbelievable when he came back in. Thats what the club needs again , a decent track day

Will Be Having A Go

Thanks guys will be having a go next year plus Brighton and will be in touch .Hope to go to Gurston school with the club in the spring .

regards Phil .
