Hey, not so down in the dumps lads (and lassies). Yes, it would be nice to have more turn up, but the cars that did looked great, each one. Shame I was the only 240Z on the track though. More of a shame that the work that I have done on the car seems to have slowed me down! Doh! I was expecting 15's and got a mid 18 best (in February I got 16.86).
I was ahead of a Lexus iS200 for about 50 metres then suffered from very rich set up which seemed to choke the engine - certainly lots of black smoke out of the exhaust. I think I need that rolling road test.

or rather I think I'll put that jet engine in (5.94 @264 mph!). Wow!.

I did get a good reaction from passers-by whilst queueing for my two runs. Once I'd opened up my bonnet, people could see the six with its trible weber setup, obviously nothing like most of the other cars there, and had some very nice compliments (and questions "what car is it?" and "are those carbs?") paid. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Oh well, on to 2006...maybe I can do better then. Good to see those of you who I've met before and some that I haven't.

I saw your run, it was great seeing a 240Z on the strip. I know this is biased but most of the other cars looked very dull apart from 240Z, Z32 and Z31.

Let me turn this around and say a big thank you to those who did turn up. For some, who got stuck in the traffic queues getting in, I'll just say "I told you so...". For Tony A. who was there before me - for f**** sake stop moaning and enjoy yourself (he won't read this as he doesn't know one end of a computer keyboard from his propshaft).

Major thanks to the three other 350 owners who arrived as promised.

I'm sorry we were on the grass on the wrong side of the action - the organisers need to realise that it is not practical to have both the social side of showing your car and the race side together unless everyone is pit-side. Ditch the drifters, I'd say - this is a drag strip!

Pro Shoot-Out! After my kind comments about improved race craft last year, this bunch would have been laughed out of the arena at a proper meeting. There was barely a car that ran right and reaction times measured with a calendar was the norm. These guys are billed as virtually all capable of running nines - we saw one nine second pass all day. Favourite for me was the Abbey Motorsport NUR Spec R34 - Tim Webster was about the only racer there. He won a place in the semis against a quicker car by virtue of quality line technique and consistent performance.

Mark Watkins and RatZ were suffering from low oil pressure and decided not to make any further runs for fear of damage. Hope it wasn't the MJP stickers we put on it that jinxed the afternoon!

The other Z news of the day was the "pretty in pink" Sumo 350Z cracking into the twelves with its new turbo set-up. 12.9 is pretty good in anyone's book considering it was built as a drift car.

Oh Im not down in the dumps, even although Ive had a moan about Zed apathy.
Just read Chunks comments....26 300zxs. I managed to tempt another novice out for the first time Black SWB TT.
I ran what I set out to do and finished up the season on a high.
Also had time to look at some new tyres for next season and pore over the Pro car paddock with Mr F and a few others.
Some of these guys may not come up to MrFs stanards as drivers, but they sure run some fabulous motors.
One of the nice features of these Jap shows is the ease of access to these cars and their teams.
Not to mention the gorgeous girls handing out leaflets etc!!!
What so many of you seem to miss is that the performance Jap car scene is a huge and interesting phenomenon in Britain now. Unfortunately the Z Club doesnt seem to have much of a presence in it.
Those of us who race there more or less regularly had developed a great sense of cameradie. We are always looking to tempt new people to join us, but ultimately we really dont care whether you turn up or not. Its just nice to get more Zeds there, but not essential. There are always plenty of people from other clubs to chat to as you line up to run.
I got a brilliant first hand account of a first time user of an electronic "line lock".in an RX7 . not to mention the admission from a 500bhp Supra owner that he hadnt a clue how to handle the car!!
but you just can't force people to go
Zed2K...I have no interest at all in forcing people to anything mate!
