Jap show

he is organising this as a replacement for the Z Club Drag Challenge rain-off Round 3 on my behalf

 AAAAAaaaaaahhhhhh WTF:mad:

I know it was posted up three weeks ago but I hadn't been reading this thread as it was always unlikely that I would be going...so I had no reason to suspect that we would arbitrarily change something without consulting people.
Mike and Rob, I spoke to both of you only a couple of days ago and mentioned that it was unlikely that I would be going, neither of you mentioned that I would drop points because it was now a "rain-off day"

I have always been working to the original AGREED date

What time do we have to be there Sunday? Grabbed my ticket from Mr F and forgot to ask him...

Duhhhhh....

Well only two runners for the drag challenge (Steve Kiddell & Frank Marino), but we do have a new Hall of Fame entry from Dave Chung who had his Satuday times verified.

Dave ran a 14.5740 @ 95.14mph in his Z32 N/A SWB and puts him in top slot in the top 10's for class (booting Pmac into second place)

Updated HoF attached.

Top effort from Dave. Just beat my 2006 time by a HUNDREDTH of a second!!!!
Just imagine if that had been for the Drag challenge!

Hopefully Dave and myself will both be able to run in the 2008 Challenge !

Had a great day out today with both my boys.

Nice to see some Z faces Skidders, Peter Mac, Rob & Matt

How many cars broke on the strip !!!!!!!

Just updated the leaderboard (with generous inclusion of some spectators who can't be bothered to fill in their slips...)

First time I've been on the Zclub pitch, was a great day and good to put some faces to the names!!!

I cant speak for others but my decision not to complete a slip and hand it in was quite intentional.
i was "bothered" enough to get up at 6.30Am this morning and drive 80 miles each way today to hook up with the usual Pod crowd.
The allocation of 2 spectator points for being there was not really going to help win a prize, hence no form returned.;)
However I am honoured by your kind and well intentioned action.
The main conclusion from my visit today was that I am still interested enough to spend the coming winter building a new car to compete with next season.:D
So hopefully next years points tally will be more than 2.

Sorry I missed this one, just had too much going on at home to get away. Looks like I would have had a tough time hanging with Dave, but will give it go next time.

A few snaps from the day.

The black 350Z was a twin turbo conversion. Hope we get to see it run one day :)

Great to see you lads today, just sorry it wasn't for long. I'm afraid I wasn't on form today (I felt rough after doing some painting at home yesterday - fumes I suppose) so I didn't hang around.

I expect the lack of 5th gear on the Z didn't help. 160 enthusiastic motorway miles with 4th gear as "top" left my head buzzing!

I really ought to get round to fixing that :)

Sorry missed you out Tony

Met up with Rob,Matt,Steve got Z footage plus the overall essence of the JAP Show. Got some Z's on the strip, plus the aircraft engined dragster, which appeared(on my lens) to blow up! at the finish line.
Finally got a bit of Tony's car on film,& did'nt hook up with
Nidge,Chunk etc. I have possibly got film of slick Pete & others but
who know's who were driving what on the day. A different day for me. Enjoyable & possibly lacking a supportive turnout by the Z massive.
Fly the flag. if er' you've got one.:)

DJ'dead knackered' 60.

Sorry i didn't get to see any of you guys. We had a massive queue all day of people waiting for drift passenger rides.

Hope you all had a great day.

Pete, don't let that scouser have the NA record for long mate :D

Rich

Thanks Pete I feel sooooo bad now....

it is so close it is unreal. In cars like ours you dont normaly measure in 100ths more like 10ths of a second. I had a brilliant weekend and now think Ive got the Drag Challenge BUG. I have some more work to do on the car this winter and will hopefully be there for the first leg of the challange "unless my baby boy pops out first".

Latest news..
Flame n Thunder is on next month and the Sunday is a RWYB day. Anyone fancy a run up, as it looks like we will be having another attempt at bettering our time. Will try semi slicks this time as road tyres dont grip very well.

I was there, honest.

Being parked where we were though was a bit of a bummer, I prefer paddock D as there's less walking.

I did trek the marathon once or twice back to the cars but nobody was around, and rather then spend the day wandering around looking for people I decided to just relax and enjoy the action.

Cheers for the magazines Rob, although I was halfway up the 54 before I realised they were there. :)

Can i add that i also was led to believe spare rd. was end of October. I was there saturday but unable to stay for Sunday. Had i known i could possibly made arrangements to stay. Anyway i did manage to get in 7 runs on saturday & i did a personal best of 13.9681@103.71, if i bring my slips down next sunday will this go in Hof.

Sorry Mike, I had to leave early, the trip back with a stop off was about 4 hours, so as my 'pass' was back by 6 so I left about 1, also my son wasn't feeling well..

I can send the form, if you like, I have at least got photographic evidence I was there!

Very annoyed I couldn't just join the queue, and then sign on. One of the stewards, wouldn't let me past the club stand, so would have had to run over to sign on (quite a long way..), run back again. Then join the line of traffic at the back. I didn't fancy sitting in the queue all day again, so just went round the show.

Had a great time though, and saw Steve's run at least.
