after registering at the weekend , i thought i should introduce myself. i'm a mechanic/mot tester at a local garage, working on 'ordinary' cars. i bought my z32 about 2 years ago, it's a 1990 twin turbo import in silver (was black). i fitted some vielside skirts, a '99' spec fr bumper, twin r/lights, bomex r/ bumper, & a high boot spoiler all from z-centre. i've also had it chipped & set up at z-world, so i really like the car, although i've not had much luck with reliability, first the auto box went (£900),then the headgasket, so i removed the engine & rebuilt it inc turbo's. i've since done about 1000 miles & the box has gone again! so i'm going to try & fix it myself, & praying it's the last of my major problems. hopfully see you all at some shows soon.

Welcome aboard, Steve, :D

Sorry to hear you've had a few hassles with your car (don't they always seem to be expensive  ) ... but it seems to be the way with Z32s!! Hopefully once you get it all sorted, you'll enter one of those periods of limited hassle that seem to come round, and the money divested so far will become a distant memory!! ;)

Best of luck - look forward to meeting you.

CheerZ,
JB.

P.S: I had heard the best way to cure problems with an auto-box was to convert to manual!! Although, that would clearly be a shocking thing to suggest!! :p :) :D

thanks for all your messages, will take & post some pics when its off the axel stands soon!! really want to go to jae being as its so close. look forward to seeing you there.

welcome aboard Steve
just look for the rather jolly fatboy at billing on the Friday or Saturday night and you will have a scream
if you cant find him then just look for the rather grumpy hungover fatboy on the Saturday or Sunday morning and you'll have a laugh at the state he will be in

Welcome Steve and thankyou for choosing The Z Club ! Lie life, what you get out is what you put in - never wait for someone else to 'do it' ! See you around sometime and good luck with the car !

Welcome Steve, sounds a nice Z mate, you wil have to post a few pics, and a smentioned above hope to see you at some meets or even Santa Pod,and dont forget Thoresby Japshow towards end of the month, some great Zs should be in attendance.

Hi Steve

Have you fitted the uprated gearbox oil cooler - either one from a UK car or an aftermarket one?

If no, you should do it. The J-spec one is either crap or non-existent (forget which;) ) hence the auto boxes fail when the cars are used over here as we tend to drive harder in the UK than they do in Japan.

That may stop you getting through another 'box.

Welcome aboard, mate and if you need further help/advice try the other side too.....

All the best

Richard:)

Agree about the oil cooler - Autoboxes definitely need an uprated one once they get over to the UK.

Hope that your Zed problems are now a thing of the past and you can get on with enjoying it! :D
