Headlight buckets

Anyone know which S30 model these buckets are from, 280z? Or are they aftermarket?

There are 3 large holes plus a smaller one in the middle with a welded nut (M6). Other headlight buckets I've seen from 240/260 zeds have 2 holes along the bottom.

[EDIT] Or was it just the fiberglass ones that had two holes? Also, what's the nut for?

3 large holes and 1 smaller hole (without captive nut) on mine. Maybe there was a captive nut which has gone thro the passage of time, ie broken off !

Thanks for checking, maybe the captive nut depends on whether the valances hold turn signals or not.

Captive nuts possibly for attachment of the plastic fillers on the '73 240Z and '74 260Z USA spec impact bumpers?

Interesting... so a US only thing then?

I was thinking of using it to bolt the airdam on but I've realised that the airdam has to go behind the buckets so now the nut is in the way, which means either removing the nut or notching the airdam.

Headlamp Cowls

Resurrecting an old thread, whilst searching for some headlamp cowl information, the unit in the first image is for a 280Z, 76/08 onwards. The LH part number is 63116-N4700 and the RH (illustrated in the first post) is 63115-N4700.

I am trying to find an image of part number 63116-N4600 (LH) or 63115-N4600 (RH), which is the correct headlamp cowl for UK/European S30's from 08/76 on.

Essentially, I am trying to find out how many holes are located in the bottom part of the assembly where it fixes to the front lower quarter panel. Thanks to Sean Dezart, I have some images of various units, but some have two holes, others three and the remainder four! I also have an image of one that may have five holes, I'm not sure, it may just be the tin worm!

If someone could please post an image of an original (UK/European) headlamp cowl from 76/08 onwards, that would really help me out.

Thanks.

Tomorrow I'll take photos of the inside of the cowls to see whether there are pre-fitted nuts or not.

Thanks, Sean,

With the captive nut integral to the late 280Z headlight cowl assemblies, this creates a gap between the headlight cowl and lower quarter panel, which is evidently not right.

I think the non-US cowls must simply have holes provided, not captive nuts, but I am not sure how many. There are only two captive nuts on each lower front quarter panels.
