gearbox oil seals

I'm just about to put the engine and gearbox together to put into my car, but I wanted to check something before I do.

The whole of the inside of the bellhousing is covered in oil. Now I know that the previous engine had a leaking crank rear oil seal, but the amount of oil that is there leads me to think that maybe one of the front gearbox oil seals/gaskets is leaking too. Is this likely or a common problem? I'd rather not get involved in doing any gearbox repairs unless it's absolutely necessary.

The gearbox is a bog standard 5 speed 1972 gearbox with integral bellhousing.

Any help much appreciated
