Don't forget the h in Albrecht please.

Funnily enough, Albrecht has a pretty good idea what an FS5C71-A transmission weighs, and bets that an FS5C71-B won't be all that much different ( assuming that's the tranny that was fitted to this particular '260Z' ).

I reckon it will be between 35 and 37kg.

But that's not going to be much help to get a shipping price. For that you'll probably need a volumetric weight - which will depend on how you pack it................

Length x Weight x Height of the packed trans ( in Centimetres ) divided by 6000 will give you a clue to the volumetric weight in KG. The shipper will probably quote on which is the higher value between the Volumetric Weight and the Actual Weight.

It,s the Oil! I don,t use that synthetic stuff you know, seriously Iwas,nt sure wether it was close on 100 KG or 1000 kg,s. I don,t need horsepower cause I,m using Camel,s.......plus Qunvat,s sending a complete batch of them & collectively, inclusive of volumetric weight and the extra 'H' in Albrecht I put down what I did. I tried to help,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,DJZ 60

P.s I,ve already acknowledged Albrecht,Carl beck,s,Mr.F, as being far more knowledgeable than I on 'Z Club Forum' Thread. & also once again great to meet up personally with the 'Count' at Billing.

Was nice to meet you too DJZ :)

Knowledge isn't everything though, is it? Judgement, tact and grace are also useful attributes. We also have to acknowledge that perspective can give a different view of what is 'knowledge' and what is not. Its all subjective, and subjectivity is subjective too..............

Albrecht is still working on getting his head around philosophy. Another glass of this wine might help.

Might also pop up to the roof of the castle tonight to see if the Leonids meteorite shower will be visible between the clouds........

Cheers.

Excellently put, philosophy in abundunce.I,ve been so engulfed in a music related background that I,ve not managed to Theoretically specialise in all the fact,s ,figure,s & statistic,s that evolved along with the Z series car,s. I have only ever owned the 2+2 marque & am in admiration of those that do have the ability to churn out accurate information. Is the Wine From France? I am Hyperactively bouncing around the Forum, getting to know people, and learning thing,s as I go along.A few day,s ago I found out that A stunning G-nose belonged to,non other than Albrecht (with h) So off I go,galavanting around the Forum.........The pleasure is mine............................DJ Garlic.

& I CAME LAST IN THE CRAWLER LANE... Hi,SIMON....get that wrapping paper & gaffer..tape out and get packing customer waiting...........................................DJZ 60....

i thought you was in the crawler lane when we were going down the m1,as for the gearbox,i must be the winner as no matter wot it weighs, its heavy so i must be the winner, wots the prize

The 'prize' is a generously donated, alf' done up & unfinished Dave Jarman vehicle given generously by happy-nappy-weilding geezer who has no time to drive car,s anymore. Status you are now the proud owner of two x Dave Jarman 3.1,s which to my reckonin' is a 6.2 so drive around in the 1st one & the 2nd will be ready for delivery 2007. (was in crawler lane in reverse gear) going slowly cas I was reading spiderman marval comic...............................DJ 'WEB'60

Hi,
As an aside, a Z31 gearbox weighs 11 tons and the rest of the car another 27 tons...or 29 tons with Jeremy Clarkson on board!!:D

I just hope simon,s not sending the engine next, but in case he doe,s that weigh,s 1000 k.g,s as well, I,m not sure though! I would,nt allow 'Clarko' to board my Z. He can get under it though.....DJ 'roadrage ' Z' kill,s Desperate dan lookalike' 60 ,t.v presenter.
