Fuel Protests

But thats like comparing diesel and unleaded, similar idea, similar thing, two different beasts though. I'll gladly pay the money for the local brandy, one wine sized glass must be the equivalent to a bottle and a half of your plonk.

However when I'm visiting you in 2007 I'll put stiffer springs on the back of the Z so I can fill her up, that sounds like a steal!

You may have the wine, but I have the cider, I'm sure most of the world think you have the better deal but I'm a west country boy...

Now will I have enough fuel to get to the Wales Rally GB this weekend and back...

Russ, are you the blond in disguise ?

Plonk, plonk ??? Yep, I have 400 bottles of 'diesel' in my cellar !

Matey, I only have to nip up to Normandy to get excelent cider and then again, I can always drink Calvados - if you don't know it - Google !

A friend came back from Guadeloupe recently and gave me a bottle of best rum - 55°, he brought a bag-in-box back for himself ! And nearly everybody around where I live has a distillery in their cellar and makes their own wine and aperitifs besides so we're not short of inexpensive alcohol :)

You all pay way too much tax over there for each and every pleasure that's left ! But do think about a run down to stock up with 'culture' - you and anyone else would be very welcome !

Sean... our Government screws us BECAUSE THEY CAN...

And a majority of voters in this country were dumb enough to vote 'em back in...

Tony - you got that right, there are more 'sheep' in England than Wales !

BTW - your Mums' house is nice !

Hi,
But if it wasn't this Government, it would be the Tories and look what a mess they made of the Country!...We now work the longest hours for the least money in Europe, with the least holidays!...Thanks Maggie!!!
Our Towns have become a caricature of American ones with their 24 hour shopping and poxy retail parks!
France will soon go the same way, it's just the language difference which has held it back for this long!
The English now consume more wine than anyone else and it's cheaper over here too!....It's just we wash ours down with a McDonalds or KFC!
At least we still have curries...and they're British aren't they!!??:D
Cheerz,

i dont think you can blame any party, labour, conervative or otherwise, they will all rip you to pieces given the chance, most of the cost of the petrol is tax, over 70% i saw in the papers a while ago, so these protesters should be outside number 10 and not the oil refineries!

Hi Sean,

You had me puzzled for a moment there!!! Mum's House????? Then it clicked! Duhhhh!

I assume you've talked to Boomer. Mum reckons he and his family were "the perfect guests" - she thought they were lovely. I can't argue with that at all - what a nice bunch.

My best friends over here - we stayed with them last weekend - ours sons played together !

So as not to be accused of drifting off thread, why are you all panic fuel buying over there ? Fear of a fuel blockade by exported French lorry drivers ? For a blockade to work, people need to run out of fuel :) !

Well, we aren't really blockading. We've got a few people standing around politely calling out "I say you chaps, would you mind terribly much not driving your tanker today as we'd like to see a few pennies knocked off the price by that lovely Mr Brown?"

Tanker driver shouts "feck off!" back and carries on his merry way...

We pay 1.3 euros per litre (at supermarket prices), in Spain last week at a normal roadside station, I pais 1.18 (98 octane unleaded) - are we all paying too much tax or WHAT ?
