First 280ZX in European Historic races ?

race rules

I enter the thread late, but i could explain the rules for the 280ZX

But first, why a 280ZX 2+2?, because, there are no more ZX coupé in France, only 20 were sell here so find one is difficult, find a good one is a little more difficult!!!!

In my opinion, the zx is not a good choice for racing because of weight, and concidering the rules for a group 1 car, nothing could be take out for saving weight....
so the car will not be competitive in Touring

the car must follow the rules of appendix j of the period so appendix J 1981, if i am right

in GR1,
Induction:
The carburettor(s) or fuel injector pump(s) normaliy mounted
on the recognised model and described on the recogniiion form may not be
changed or removed. The elements which control the quantity of fuel fed in the
engine may be changed, but not those which control the quantity of air. it is
permitted to remove the filtering element on conditian thai the original air filter
box is retained.

ignition coil,
condenser, distributor and regulator are free, subject to the

ignition system remaining the same as provided by the ranufacturer for the
model concerned and the replacement of the said accessories do not entail any
modification of the attachment system provided by the manufacturer for the
model concerned.
However, it is specified that the fitting of an electronic ignition system is
a!lowed on series-producti~n cars provided no mechanical part other than
those mentioned hereabove is modified or replaced.
Shock absorbers: The make and type are free. However, no addition is
allowed and neither their original purpose nor their number, nor their system
of operdion may be modified. By system of operation is meant: hydraulic, friction,
telescopic or lever type. The original supports rsay not be changed in any way.
If, in order to change the damping element of a McPherson suspension, it
is necessary to replace the entire McPherson strut, the replacement part must
be

mechanically identical to the original one, except for the damping element.
h) Wheels and
tyres: Wheels must be those prcvided by the manufacturer
for the considered model.

Coachwork: None of the normal elements of the coachwork (dashboard,
all inside quiltings whatever thgir location), and none of the accessories normally
mounted by the manufacturer on the lowest priced model may be removed or
replaced

body: bumpers could be removed for track

IN Gr2 rules are more free, and so you could change more parts to correct the ZX fault:rolleyes: induction is free, but all the modified part must be of the period conception!!!!

moderne induction is not allowed!

For me Zx could be competitive only in gr2

here is my french point of view...
