Door lock problems

I've been having problems with my driver side door locking mechanism, when you try and lock it just feels sloppy and you can't turn it enough to engage the lock. I fitted a new barrel as upon inspection this seemed to be the problem, however that only lasted a few weeks before the same problem occurred.


It just seems like a really bad design as when you turn the key you turn a metal arm which is loosely inserted into another part which then moves up or down and activates the lock, there's lots of slop and looseness even with new parts. It also seem 240Z locks are slightly different to 260z locks.


Has anyway else had a problem with their locks?

What can I do, its an annoying problem which I need to fix but I'm not sure how.

If it's still playing up after it's been adjusted then there's a metal rod in the lock linkage that you can bend to take the slop out, can't remember which one off the top of my head but I had to do this on mine to get it to lock with the key.
