well that's another piece of paper we can get rid of

as of June 2015 the paper part of your licence has no legal status

Actually I only have a paper licence and it's valid for a few more years yet.

I have another old one too:

Fellas!!! Get with the times!!!!

I thought they had forced everyone to surrender their paper only licences by now.

I've NEVER had a single item of correspondence about my licence. Why pay for a new one and then pay to renew every now and again for photo updates?

You must get a new licence if

You change your address
Your licence is defaced
You have changed your name
Your getting a CPC or DQC

If none apply and your paper licence is still valid you don't need to exchange it for a photo card version.

I thought I was the only one with a manky old paper thingy.
I'm going to get a new style photo jobbie, just so I don't have to drag out my passport for photo i.d.

How many people dont realise the photo card can have a different expiry date depending on curcumstances,ie drivers cpc, hgv, dgsa, ect, best check your photo card expiry dates

Mine was stolen in Italy in 1998 so I had to go photo version and to be frank it's quite useful for ID at the post office etc.

I never fathomed why you still needed a paper counter part too!! Just add points data to the back of it.

One thing I was very surprised at is the range of vehicles I can drive versus someone passing their test in recent years.

My friend who recently passed only has he first 2 categories.

Yeh, I've got all those plus Motorbikes.

As I was saying re Speed Awareness Course there is no compulsory retraining throughout your driving life. I passed my motorbike test in 1968 (just rode around the block with a tester watching me - nothing else!

My mates mum automatically got her full motorbike licence when dhe passed her car test back in 1960 something
