Charging

Hi all just wanted to check before I removed the alternator, I took my 260 outta the weekend and noticed the handbrake light didn’t come on in the speedometer but didn’t think to much of it , I went for spin for a wile got back and the battery was low ( down to 9v) so wouldn’t re start so checked with volt meter and no charging?!
It’s a hitachi alternator, so my question is is there a link or coincidence? I’m assigning the alternator is playing up so was going to take it off and get it tested/ repaired or replace
Any advice very much appreciated

Try yer battery first lots of people get caught out changing things and it turns out to be battery or clean and tighten bat connections

No, there isn't a link unless the battery was so discharged that it wouldn't illuminate the bulb - very unlikely.

I put a volt meter on the battery as the car was running and no rise even when revving so assuming the alternator?

Might be worth checking the connections on the alt are clean and well seated (and the regulator if separate)
