Car featured in mag!

If anyone's interested, my 260Z is featured in the November issue of Practical Classics magazine, which is on sale now. They gave it a full page feature on p36.

It's a good piece, however I want to point out that all the responses to their questions were sent by me to them in writing - there was no interview. Therefore I know exactly what I wrote.

It appears they have decided to use a little 'journalistic licence' here and there and attributed to me comments I never made.

For instance I did NOT refer to 280s as "slower and fatter" nor did I refer to Zs generally as "notorious rustbuckets". While the latter is probably true, I would never have used such derogatory language about the cars I love!

I believe, thanks to Rob Gaskin, that my car will also feature in the next issue of Total Nissan magazine on sale around October 14 but have no idea what kind of show it will get.

Meanwhile, I have just had all the manifold studs replaced (two have been sheared off ever since I got the car) which has now cured the slight blowing sound from the engine (an excellent bit of work by Mark Warburton in Macclesfield).

I have also had a digital flasher unit fitted - now the indicators flash fast and in perfect rhythm regardless of what speed the engine is running/what day of the week it is etc!

Finally, if anyone is interested, I have added a couple of new pictures to my gallery. If you view them, do so at full screen size. They are good quality pictures that really show off the lines of the Z. Was there ever a more beautiful car made?

Haven't you contacted them? If you know the date it was in they will usually send you a back copy. Good luck.

Most 70s cars were rust buckets cant think of one that isnt,

Really annoys me when I go to a show and someone inevitably says "these were rust buckets weren't they" Having been in the motor trade for over 50 years I can't really think of a car from the 70's that didn't rust

Total Nissan mag has gone bust, I renewed in Feb never recieved 1 copy.

How strange! Rob Gaskin put something up on the forum a few weeks back saying Total Nissan were looking for a car to feature if members wanted to fill in a questionnaire and send some pictures.

I did that, and Rob has contacted me to say he has been told they are featuring my car next issue - I understand that to be mid October because it comes out every three months?

So who knows what is happening?

I'm glad I read your comments first as last weekend I had the opportunity to read the article in a friends' copy.....:

280Zs should read 280ZXs - such a common error to call the S130s HLS30s and it annoys me.

How can one compare a 2+2 280ZX with possibly an auto box to a 2 seater 260Z ?
How about a 2 seater or even turbo version to a 260Z 2+2 and then add the auto box ?
Besides, how many cars did they sell of each model which is what it's all about ?

Rust is mentioned twice and as almost everyone has mentioned here, ALL cars of that era rusted, yes, even the Bosche : Porkers, Beemers and Pagodas !

As a club, I'd have written back to arrange a test of ALL cars and request (with supporting evidence) an apology or at least a correction.

WHO does the clubs' PR these days ?
