Best engine? I'm thinking for the future here... Whats your prefered engine for a 260z?

Chevvy? Jag? The original datsun engine?
 
280zx engine because it will not look out of place you should get a bit extra power out of it and it will run on unleaded petrol without have to do the valve seats

Is there really that much difference between a 260 and 280 engine? In terms of cost of replacing vs performance improvements after?

do you know how much it costs to do the head on a 260 to make it run on unleaded v 280 engine that does not.2.8 engines are in many models not just 280z so it should not cost that much .unless you mean more power for being the best engine.there no point in puting a skyline engine in if the gears can not cope you would need the full works.
