Sorry to hear about your problems Gaz, Even when they do the job you've asked and paid for they do it badly, Does no one do a good job anymore ?????????????.

Most of them want your bloody money and they want it for either doing a shit job or no job at all!.

I hope you get it sorted soon matey.

Well, you are not a million miles away from DJ, are you, so why don't you ask him who does his Painting - go with someone who is tried & tested and 'produces the Goods'.

As a matter of interest, did you originally go with :-
a) a 'Mate of a Mate who could do a cheap job', or
b) Someone who 'would do it in between other jobs at a reduced cost' ?

Same thing happened with my first 240, I had spent thousands on it, in the end it ended up in a skip because this t*** f***** the body shell up, I was gutted as that particular Z was very special to me & was not alone in being ripped off by that scum ball. Onward & upward as they say :D & as Duncan says contact DJ you will not be disapointed .

sorry to hear of this it grieves me when people do this, thats why i always do it myself that way i cannot get ripped of, but not every one has the time or skill to do it them selves.

Don't sit on your hands mate. Name the bastards.:smash: This stuff givs me the shits to be frank .My 240 took 12 months to complete Three or four in the paint shop.!!! I had to continue because I had given progress payments. What a bloody joke. Now theres rust appearing under the paint where there was none. I'm working through it myself one piece at a time. Its just surface rust thank God. My son took his MX5 in to someone somebody recomended to get a supercharger kit fitted. Same rubbish with nothing being done.Nine months.!!!! He went in to recover the car with the police and parts were lost, so the cretin took parts off another customers car. It's no wonder people get done over.

The dodgy bastard I used quoted me £2500 to prep and paint mine bearing in mind it was already stripped, Then when I went to pick it up 6 months later told me the bill was now £5600 :eek:.

I told him I wasn't paying that and he chopped £600 off straight away, I took it away telling him I'd have to save up to pay the rest, But in the mean time I've had the time to look over what they did while I've been putting it back together, And lets just say he isn't getting anymore money out of me that's for sure :(.

He reckons he'd spent 200 hours on it, But I've seen some cars recently that have had 150 hours put into them and they're far far better than mine, He's either incompetent or a liar but more likely he's both :(.

I was quite happy with my b) It's the same garage I use for any mechanical work that needs doing on the family cars & MOT's, the only drawback was they had it 20 month.

i honestly cannot understand where they get there prices from, if it takes a month to prep and spray, materials wise £400 tops, unless you are having a really expensive paint, undercoat is cheap as is blocker and high build primer, so they are wanting close to around £3000 + for a months work, mmm now where can i obtain an idiots guide to spraying cars???
