Bad time to sell?

I have not had my 240z long and still not really had the chance to enjoy it fully. Unfortunately there is a chance that I may have to sell it on next year as a last resort as I am struggling to raise enough money for a joint business venture. My question is in the present climate would this be a waste of time? Has anyone had any recent experience of how fast these cars are likely to sell?

It may never happen!

If it's in good order then it'll sell fast and well - there's always somene with money around and good 240Zs are hard to find !

No two ways about it, it is a bad time to sell at the moment.

Autum / Winter traditionally is slow, but there are plenty of nice cars not making as much as they should. First thing to go when money gets tight are the toys (for normal average people anyway!!).

Only exception seems to be very specialist cars for HSCC or other forms of historic racing.

Hold onto it if you can, the market in summer next year might be better, it is not like Z's are 10 a penny like MGBs.

I agree with Sean good examples of 240 & 260 will always sell well as they are hard to find & extremely under valued anyway. Seen the pic of your Z in your gallery looks in very good shape.

that's a real shame if you have to sell. i've seen the car in the flesh and it's a real nice example (plug plug :D).

hope the case is you don't have to sell azam. with graham's aka vermatiadog (stupid bloody name which i've probably spelt wrong!) still off the road and my project still in it's infancy, you were our lone flag flyer from the sunny shores of bradford!! :(

It's not often that I find myself agreeing with Sean Dezart, but he is right in his comments.
A good 240Z or 2-seat 260Z is pretty rare these days, and as someone who sells more of them than anyone else in the UK, I can assure you that there are more potential Buyers than there are decent Z's - at least in RHD form.
Anyone who disagrees with that statement should just buy all the Classic Cars Mags on sale at the moment - how many Z's are there for sale ?
On top of which, the listed 'Valuations'in the Mags are totally inaccurate & out of date - we recently listed a restored 240Z for sale at £18,000 and had nearly a dozen ( serious ) phone calls within a week
.
My honest advice - keep the car - when you want another one in good condition, they're hard to find !

Good advice

Thanks for all the advice guys, I'm hoping it won't happen. But if it does- I'll be heartbroken- wont need to sell it till next year anyway, so between now and then there is likely to be atleast 24 hrs without rain.

I still have lots of plans for the car and would like a chance to race Rahail and Graham around the mean streets of Bradford too!:driving:

Generally the second hand market is terrible at the moment, I have noticed loads of Zs for sale. I guess if it is in good nick, it will sell eventually.

Had mine for sale a while now, had someone come and look and a few tyre kickers phone..but little interest. To find a car that has had no welding on the floor/chassis legs/inner wings/rad support/air tubes is quite rare nowadays, plus bonnet/tailgate and doors in very good nick...a car with potential, but no takers around the asking price. Want it for the price of a rust bucket and can't see the real cost nowadays compared to the "book" price.
