Albrecht - when is the term Kaa used to describe a car as I got that from my Japanese lesson
"Kaa" would just be the phonetic equivalent of the English word 'Car', and is certainly used much less than 'Kuruma' or 'Sha'. It would also need to be written in the phonetic alphabet of Katakana rather than as a Kanji ideogram.

Just about everybody in Japan can read the English word 'Car' when it is written in the 'Roman' alphabet, and understand what it means. Magazines such as 'Car Graphic', 'Car Sensor', 'Car Boy' and indeed 'Car' magazine itself all use Roman alphabet titles on their front covers.
