Air filter box question

Hi,
How does the air filter box 'flow door' work? I have a stock orange unit but the door isn't attached to anything to control open/close. I guess it's meant to be closed on cold start up and open up as the engine warms up. Any advice welcome.
Thanks
Brett

I think on some 240z models you had a lever inside on the centre console that would have pulled a cable like the choke ones.

On my 260 running 240 carbs, I use the bottom feed to a cold induction set up that draws the air from the side in front of the radiator.

Spring loaded flipper for winter / summer driving. Open for summer and closed for winter to receive warmer air heated by exhaust manifold. I keep mine open all the time as it is not very cold in Cali anytime. LOL

That was very early cars, 'fast idle' I think. Or as the American's used it 'darwins cruise control'.

Aha! I knew I was talking gibberish ;)

Love the "Darwin's" cruise control!!! :D
