it certainly looks good, get the car in etch primer fast including all the little voids or it will rust like fury, i'm sure you know that already.... looking forward to seeing the progress and the end result!:D well done!
How long has it sat in bare metal ??

Too long now - some surface rust is apparent but it sands off with minimal effort - there is another shell there which has been dipped but has a lot more surface rust than mine. The plan is to do all of the welding and strengthening, bulkhead swap etc then possibly dip it again and immediately etch prime the fresh clean metal.

The floors and chassis rails will be replaced with thicker new ones even though they are solid, the rails going all the way back down the floor pan.

There is a slight kink in the front driver side (RHD) chassis leg which will be pulled out on a jig before the rail is replaced.

All in all though, even with some surface rust I am amazed at the condition of the shell.

Zhead,

Good show!!!! That’s the way to restore a body. I did mine in a heated oven, won’t recommend it to anybody. Because it burns the entire car and when I say all I mean all…

Between the double plates, places where you normally can’t get through..

How does it work with acid, does it leave the kit layers etc.??? It’s good to leave the car like it is for some days; the rust will show up extra where it already was present!!!! Then you know the right places to cut..

That looks like one of my Mrs' cakes :D

The shell came up perfectly, no rust showing at all, however after a couple of months it started to show pretty evenly all over the surface again. As part of the EP Zinc treatment I have now been informed it will be dipped again prior to plating.

It literally took EVERYTHING off, grease, grime, sealer, paint, rust, the lot, so the starting point was metal and nothing else.

Welding has started this week so I am quite excited :D

I think (don't quote me because I genuinely do not know where the shell was done) that they oven baked it prior to dipping to loosen up the paint to the state yours is in.
