I think Outlaw started as a "sod the rules, I just wanna go quick" class with no holds barred. Like most things in life it has become subject to a set of rules and regs and sub-divided into a series of classes to fit all pockets - from Outlaw 10.5 down to a 4.70 Index class.
10.5 remains true to the roots of doorslammer racing and one of the rules is:
"Vehicle can be any factory produced coupe, sedan, sports car, truck or sedan delivery. Must retain complete stock roof, quarters, door jams, pillar post, cowl and firewall. All other body components may be composite or other light material. They must be in factory dimensions. Channeling, chopping, sectioning or any other alterations to alter length, width or height strictly prohibited.
Doors must be functional from inside and outside of vehicle. Exact duplicates in carbon fiber or fiberglass are allowed."
RatZ would have fitted in perfectly!
10.5 is not an index class BTW - see the sort of qualifying it brings in this vid - top qualifier is 7.02!

A similar class operates at Santa Pod this year called Street Eliminator - full bodied, street legal doorslammers aiming to run in the seven second bracket - body rules as above plus they have to prove eligibility by participating in a local road run before competing! We saw them at a shakedown meeting last year and the engineering quality is awesome.
Have you got your entry sorted yet Dave?
