Hi All.......anyone any advice on converting auto 280zx to man. Just prefer the manl box. Its the 1982 older model Targa. I presume it will need other prop shaft but im hoping i can leave the same differential in the car,..at least for now.Night be fine, but help appreciated.

I would have thought it will be a fairly straight forward swap.

If I were you I would be looking at changing the diff as well to match the manual box.

Auto 280ZX has R180 diff (not sure of ratio but probably something horrid).
Manual 280ZX has R200 diff.

Hi, as Moggy said you will need a flywheel and clutch assy and a crankshaft bush for the spiggot shaft to run in. Heres the rub, the clutch hydraulics, you will need a master and slave cylinder, not a problem. The problem is the pedal box, you cant just bolt in a clutch pedal, you have to change the complete pedal box as the manual one is different from the auto one. I have broken lots of 280zx's and noticed the differences in the parts. To fit a pedal box, if you can get one, first remove the dashboard to access the pedal box. Not a bad a job as it looks, you should be able to do it in a day.

Don't forget to knock the tourque converter spacer off the end of the crankshaft or the flywheel won't have enough thread on the bolts, as for the spigot bush I just got one for my 280 engine (it was an auto but it's in my 260) off the shelf at Industrial Bearings, just take the gearbox shaft dia and the crank hole size and your local suppier will find you one, I got a very nice needle roller version cost all of £3.50;)

Propshaft should be the same.

Happy days
