280Z - Miscellaneous Upgrades

It's been another slow year on the Z. Painful as I'm pretty desperate to get in it now. I've basically said to the team just get what is left back together so we can get it on the road and anything else we can do as we go.

Dropped the ECU Master Classic off to them last week and took some pictures. Dashboard and center console has been trimmed and installed with orange stitching, looks absolutely fantastic and new carpet too. Door cards will no doubt let it down when installed but easy enough to sort in the future.

Most of the electronics are in now with exception of ECU and battery permanent location.

Need new chrome trims for the front and rear glass, does anyone know the best/most cost effective place to acquire these?

Can't seem to upload images anymore, compressed them but still saying too big so they'll have to come after sorry!
What did you get the dash trimmed with? One of the leather covers? I'm wondering what to do with my old cracked dash - repair, leather cover, replace with new dash pad or replace with a GRP one.

The guys sent it off to someone they use for re-trimming, it's custom made. Apparently they had to scan the dash to figure out where to reverse stitch it?

I think this means that I don't have as much stitching showing as the ones you can get pre-made? Either way, looks absolutely fantastic. I imagine now they have the scan etc it would be easier to reproduce. Paid £1400 for the dash and center console, think this would have been mates rates through the guys who are doing the car but unsure.

Managed to shrink the images down! Presumably file size limit is 1mb here...

I think you got stitched :rofl:
Set that one up for you!

I thought the price was good for the quality of work and it really makes the interior. I had quotes a couple of years ago which were more in the region of 3k - but that included labour to remove and reinstall whereas this was just repair and cover.

Dunno, is it good? Is it bad? I'm at the point where I've stopped counting... Just want the car back.

I don't see any less stitching than other work and kits...however, the orange stitch isn't exactly discreet perhaps falsifying the stitch count...?

Had to check this as you could be right. Screenshot attached of the kind of detail on the pre-made ones which worried me, looking at the cost of these covers too (£400?) I am definitely happy with what I've paid and the outcome. It's around the clocks mostly and across some of the sections, think that's where mine has been stitched from behind as opposed to being done in visible stitch? Agreed the orange is pronounced though!

An Alcantara like finish was a must for me too. Had some in a GT86 years ago and just thought it looked really premium.

Be interested though to know if anyone's had one of these covers and they turned out well?

That does look good.
We definitely don't have a 1mb image size limit. Last image I added was 6mb. @Mr Tenno ?

It looks like a high quality job!

Is there enough give to take out the instruments without peeling back the cover? If not it may be wise to go LED all round to reduce a possible need to get them out later down the road.

There should be as I'm fairly confident the instruments went in after! Good question though...

There is a limit, but not going to post it unless someone takes it as a challenge 😁
Odd! Couldn't upload anything at 2mb/3mb a picture. Probably user error, not been here as much as I'd like.
