260Z froggy style

Very nice spec and no doubt nicely engineered. But if it's honest opinions you want...I just hope it goes better than it looks. Combination of black / chrome doesn't work, those mirrors always look tacky-stuck-on-naff and..... black wheels? No......

At least you had the good grace not to do it to a 2-seater:)

:)

sam, take a look a some original home market fairlady s30's.
for example the 432-r. probably the most sought after of the s30 range.

orange with black hood.
fender mirrors and black wheels.

as quoted by the count in a recent thread 'why does everyone want un-japanese a japanese car'.

just out of interest what's your favourite look,if seans is so naff??

Sean's is sold has has gone home to Monaco - somebody likes her. She did 1300 kms w/out problems in some blistering heat and will do 0-60 in 6.8secs, quicker still with better tyres and a limmie. Built to a spec and will probably have some changes like polished rims as the owner now thinks that 100% black is too much.

Even better to have done it to a 2+2 is to prove that theu can look great (ok it's in the eye....), can go well and shouldn't be treated like the 240s' big, ugly sister !

S30s go all the way from 1969 'til 1978 - don't forget it !

Once again -- just my opinion! Orange with black hood brings me in mind of something that Luke and Bo would run around in in Hazzard County. Those mirrors look awful - why buy a sleek car like the 240 and destroy the look by sticking a couple mirrors on scaffolding poles on your wings? And the black wheels look like somebody painted the factory steels black and then lost their hubcaps over a speed bump.

Our Japanese mates might have thought it looked good on the streets of Yokohama, but don't forget that these are the same people who sent us karaoke and sushi bars.

So...here's my personal preference and feel free to scoff!

Standard- looking 240, one deep, dark colour, (in my case metallic blue, but BRG or similar would be fine) chrome trimmings (nicely contrasted against the main colour) slightly enlarged "period" wheels - so more than likely a modern copy of some earlier design - along with a slight lowering of the suspension to help fill the arches better. Compact chrome door mirrors, and no aerial to break up the lines. And thats about it. Nothing dramatic, hopefully subtle modern upgrades that add to the original design rather than clash with it. I also prefer bumpers and the original neat and stylish front lip spoiler to a deep dish front spoiler.

Unfortunately, my car came with a smoothed-off rear end, deepish front spoiler and no bumpers! But I liked it so much I bought it anyway. One day though....So nothing radical then. Maybe you think thats boring, but as a 50-something my look-at-me car days are way behind me - I'm just looking for nods of approval from other old farts who "had one of them back in 't seventies". I do like the green and white Z from earlier in this thread, but I don't think I'd be comfortable pulling up at the pub in it...

And this is how it looks in reality. Or doesn't if the pictures don't display...

hi sam, nice car, and i agree about the addition of bumpers on yours.

i didn't want to hijack this thread so i've continued this subject on my thread titled 'jdm please explain'.

feel free to reply. :)

Didn't notice a green Z earlier in this thread and the white one is the orange one with ZG flares.

Yours looks like mine except I have no front spoiler and have front and rear chrome bumpers and Minilite wheels, a little more dished.

One comment only on yours - too high !

Good spot Sean - the green and white one was actually in your other thread about paint schemes. You would probably have liked the ride height of mine when I first got it - it had been er...professionaly lowered by the cutting the springs in half. Unfortunately the half that was removed contained all the springing resulting in an interesting ride.

Regarding the Z of this thread, I read the Times motoring supp yesterday and there was a picture of the new 190mph BMW M3 GTS. Orange. With black wheels and black front and rear spoilers.

Unbelieveably, even our usually sensible Germanic cousins get it wrong at times!;)

Green and SILVER do you mind !!! :p A slight Samuri rip-off and very seventies - I liked it and replicated it when it was re-painted.

I think that the paint scheme from BMW that you descirbed works better on a modern car - it's a modern look !

Funnily enough, the first choice of paint was the orange found on the BMW 2002s !

A Z professionel ?
