sam, take a look a some original home market fairlady s30's.
for example the 432-r. probably the most sought after of the s30 range.
orange with black hood.
fender mirrors and black wheels.
as quoted by the count in a recent thread 'why does everyone want un-japanese a japanese car'.
just out of interest what's your favourite look,if seans is so naff??
Once again -- just my opinion! Orange with black hood brings me in mind of something that Luke and Bo would run around in in Hazzard County. Those mirrors look awful - why buy a sleek car like the 240 and destroy the look by sticking a couple mirrors on scaffolding poles on your wings? And the black wheels look like somebody painted the factory steels black and then lost their hubcaps over a speed bump.
Our Japanese mates might have thought it looked good on the streets of Yokohama, but don't forget that these are the same people who sent us karaoke and sushi bars.
So...here's my personal preference and feel free to scoff!
Standard- looking 240, one deep, dark colour, (in my case metallic blue, but BRG or similar would be fine) chrome trimmings (nicely contrasted against the main colour) slightly enlarged "period" wheels - so more than likely a modern copy of some earlier design - along with a slight lowering of the suspension to help fill the arches better. Compact chrome door mirrors, and no aerial to break up the lines. And thats about it. Nothing dramatic, hopefully subtle modern upgrades that add to the original design rather than clash with it. I also prefer bumpers and the original neat and stylish front lip spoiler to a deep dish front spoiler.
Unfortunately, my car came with a smoothed-off rear end, deepish front spoiler and no bumpers! But I liked it so much I bought it anyway. One day though....So nothing radical then. Maybe you think thats boring, but as a 50-something my look-at-me car days are way behind me - I'm just looking for nods of approval from other old farts who "had one of them back in 't seventies". I do like the green and white Z from earlier in this thread, but I don't think I'd be comfortable pulling up at the pub in it...
And this is how it looks in reality. Or doesn't if the pictures don't display...
Cheers Sam
