My ammeter stopped working a while back and just got round to investigating why.
I have tested the gauge and that worked ok so did some research and the 260Z has a shunt in the engine bay that is fused and controls the ammeter readings. When I took the cover off, the fuses were ok but the terminals that hold them were near enough disintegrated through what looked like corrosion or arcing. I tried bypassing the fuses to test the unit and still had nothing so I have come to the conclusion that the shunt is dead. According to the Haynes manual, it can't be fixed and I probably wouldn't know where to start anyway.
Does anyone have a spare that they would be willing to sell or know where to get one please?
