Hi Rob, just been following the fsm and Haynes manual to fault find my dodgy indicators. Turns out I had 2 separate issues.
The combination switch for the indicator was sticking in open circuit positions, probably from years of dust. Sprayed some electrical contact in it a few times and lubricated the switch and I've got my indicators working again.
2nd issue was the indicator relay was broken, the indicator lights would stay on constant!
I also found that the flasher and hazard circuits are entwined within eachother as well as powering other parts of the system (glove box light, dome light plus what you've mentioned above).
My next step is to separate the rear brake cluster from the rear indicators by running a new wire.
