240Z Indicator and Hazard circuits

I know you were being flipant but IMO time spent on wiring to understand it, correct faults and improve it, is time well spent. For example with the circuits above I now understand them. A wire that goes from a 'Flasher' fuse to a hazard switch could easily lead you to believe that the 'Flasher' cct is the hazard circuit. Also both fuses feed more than the circuit above. The flasher fuse also feeds the handbrake light, the voltage regulator, instruments (not bulbs) etc.

I'm now using a 260Z fusebox (my 240 fusebox suffered from the common burnout) and have separated the circuits.

Here's a question for you guys:

What amperage fuse would you use for the hazard circuit alone?

Fuse wise I reckon 21w x 4 + 5w x 2 + 3.4w x2 = 101a / 12v = 8a

So a 10a fuse should be fine

So you have 5w bulbs in your wing repeaters? Mine are 8w.

On a 240 the fuse (Stop) is 20a same as the indicator fuse (Flasher) 20a. I dou20200422_111131.jpg 20200422_111140.jpg 20200422_111200.jpg bt the indicator/hazard wiring would take 20a in the event of a short.

On a 260 they are both 10a.

I think the wing repeaters were 5w, glb207 or Ba15s. We’re they 8w originally? I’ll end up on LEDs I think anyway. I’ve changed the flasher relay to one that will run either, but I never considered the hazard relay.

Hi Rob, just been following the fsm and Haynes manual to fault find my dodgy indicators. Turns out I had 2 separate issues.

The combination switch for the indicator was sticking in open circuit positions, probably from years of dust. Sprayed some electrical contact in it a few times and lubricated the switch and I've got my indicators working again.
2nd issue was the indicator relay was broken, the indicator lights would stay on constant!

I also found that the flasher and hazard circuits are entwined within eachother as well as powering other parts of the system (glove box light, dome light plus what you've mentioned above).

My next step is to separate the rear brake cluster from the rear indicators by running a new wire.
