I am interested in upgrading the front brakes on my 240z to Toyota calipers but can't seem to find anywhere selling the new or refurbished calipers of the right year.
Does anyone know of a reasonably priced UK supplier?

Thanks - I will give them both a call, neither company list the correct calipers on their websites but hopefully they will be able to help.

Toyota 4wd Truck (1979-1984), S12-8 calipers from the info I can find.

You want to keep the 240z non vented disc then?????
Nothing wrong with a pair of Early hilux calipers and a solid disc for a basic upgrade.
however using later calipers with a suitable vented disc gives a much more efficient upgrade and is less prone to fade.
IMO. IMO IMO.

What year of disc and calipers would I need and does this conversion require spacers or any other modifications?

The best callipers to use are the Mk IV which is 1997 to about 2001. With this you use a vented disc and it requires a spacer which you can buy from specialists in America. If you go on ebay under Toyota Hilux callipers you will see the different types.

This is what I am using. The spacers where bought from America and I am using a Mk4 Toyota Calliper with off the top of my head Nissan 300zx Vented disc's 4 stud

Here is some photo's attached of what I am doing.

After serious brake fade issue at Spa recently. I am upgrading my own brakes.
The toyota caliper is the route I think I am going. As seems the cheapest and least problematic although I am open to sugestions.

For a bolt on simple upgrade for fast road you can use the Toyota Hilux pickup MK2 1984-88, model no LN65, YN65/67 these use the solid disc calipers Sumitomo S12-8.

The later MK3 calipers use the vented discs S12-8w these may cause you clearence issues depending on your wheels etc.

The MK2 upgrade should be fine for Road use.

Andrew, are you saying you are upgrading but this using solid discs?

If so why when manufacturers have all gone to vented discs even on road cars?

Your brake fade is due to heat and pad material. The better the brakes the more heat generated.

Think about what I offered you ;) PM if you like.

Maybe not at the "buy it now" price but don't forget the kit comes with ally hubs, servo and presumably 15/16" master cylinder ("bigger master cylinder") all as new ?

Sounds like a good all in one option. Shame they have ground off the words Willwood and repainted the calipers and bells. The first picture shows the AZ kit but it doesn't mention in the advert that it is AZ. The discs don't look like the big AZ one's, although its hard to tell. It also doesn't mention if its for a 240z or 260z (they are different) but I guess as it includes the hubs it doesn't matter.

A good price considering the extra's, but I think a new setup from AZ at not a lot more money would be the way I'd go. Having bought as used set before I would not recommend it as I ended up spending more than the cost of brand new in time and money on getting them working on the car. Now they are working, I can not recommend the AZ setup enough.
