240 or 260?

Hello all,

I once stumbled across some videos of a 240Z owned by a guy named Darius. The car which I hadn't come across before was very very nice and I thought "oneday...". Anyway two days ago I stumbled across a rotted out 260Z and from that moment on I can't stop thinking about it. I'm in love.

So I'm looking to get something like a 240Z or 260Z but I'm ignorant as to the differences between them, how they differ in looks and I heard theres a LWB 260Z? Is this as nice to drive as the normal wheel base?

If anyone can point me to any resources on what difference there are and more importantly pictures I would really appreciate it. I'm looking to choose the model I want and source one for long term restoration or tidying up depending on what state it is in. Infact a couple in the for sale section have caught my eye. Such a beautiful car for the money!

Also are there any recommended classic car insurers? Especially for young people... I may not be able to drive it for a few years if the project is quite involved by which time I could be old so it may not matter <img src="http://www.zclub.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Thank you for your attention.

Heya,

I ordered the 240Z & 269Z portfolio from the nice lady so that should help with some details and spent a while talking to the very helpful Steve Kemp I believe so I'm a little more sure now.

I think it's gonna be a 260Z but the one I saw and fell in love with is a 2 + 2 so if I can get my car back on the road in time I'm going to head up to the Extravanganza and try and make my mind up.

Another thing is Steve informs me someone (who's name I forgot) who lives in Bristol organises events at Castle Combe? Can anyone fill me in on this please?

Cheers

You need to speak to Geoff in Bristol about castle combe events 01179442608. Im 22 and the only way to get get classic insurance was to gize my z to my dad insure it in his name and to be a named driver. (this year would have been £450 with firebond with a years no claims) Tesco does insure them now aswell though.

Hi Russ
in answer to your question about insurance if you go to the views and chitchat section of the website and alter the button from <30 days> to <the begining> two threads will come up one titled "young peoples insurance" and the other "insurance for modified/engine swap" and there is some advise there.
Or you could try the websites search button.

OOPS THAT DIDN'T COME OUT RIGHT
should read change<30days> to <the begining> and the two insurance threads should come up

oops not my typing thats wrong the board dosn't like two lots of << so change 30 days to the begining  and the insurance threads should come up
typed this twice before seems like Groundhog Day

Ahhh nice one thanks, I usually forget that on forum mosts questions I asked would have already been answered before <img src="http://www.zclub.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Hi all,

Well I think having done some reading and such and a little looking I would prefer the 260Z 2+2, mainly because in my eyes it looks nicer.

Can anyone have a rough guess at how much an earlyish 2+2 with little or no rust and good interior would cost please? I'm not looking for any trick bits (aftermarkey alloys etc) really.

Thanks.
