Z Club Drag Challenge 2010

3. Tony Anastasiades (guest mystery driver Stzig F.) 14.3211 / 102.81 (new entry). Reaction time 0.4631

Sorry no new entry - car must be driven my owner else we'll all be swapping cars and the records would become diluted.

Tony needs to grow some testicles and drive it himself :D

Well done everyone though :)

he was running the same time as the Nissan GTRs

The stock GTRs were consistently 11.8 / 11.9. Modified lightly - low 11s. One guy with allegedly 700+ bhp cracked a best of 10.7 and then drove home in comfort with the air-con blasting and listening to Ride of the Valkyries...

Yet another excellent weekend I managed to get 18 runs on the day! and very proud of my new personal best. Best of all there is still loads more things to improve on the car to get my times down like decent tyres.
I had a good run home with Tony riding alongside in his 300zx. Even had a local taxi driver beeb his horn and stick his thumb up in approval while driving along the M1 and ironically his taxi firm was called Skyline Taxi's

What a nice day it was thanks Mike. As a new boy I didn’t really know what I was doing but after watching some of the GRT drivers going off the line I felt much better. Also I was given some tips about the lights and then put in a typical beginners luck start along with some red light starts. What would this car do without the heavy body kit, electric seats, aircon, roll cage, HICAS, etc etc and better tyre and driver? We may never know

Hall of Fame update attached - new entries in yellow.

Darren; not just fastest non-V8, fastest street legal Z........ever !!

............... Darren your car must be awesome on the road.

Further supported by the 'Hall of Fame' figures.

After 12 and a bit seconds your car is doing 118mph. After 15s my car was doing 93 mph so after 12s probably 85mph - 33mph slower! And my car feels reasonably quick on the road. I do remember when I did Santa Pod I had a 280ZX clutch in good condition but it slipped a bit (due to the power over a 280!!!).

Not wishing to dampen the occasion, but my 240Z V8 in street trim and with street legal tyres did run low twelves before conversion to 4-link live axle to use slicks...

Can't find any hard evidence for you, just my aging memory.
(The older I get, the faster I was...)

I really must get along to one of these meetings - I haven't been to Santa Pod for years. It sounds great fun!

Am I reading the table correctly? An L6 NA is capable of a 12.787/13.05 run?
That is amazing..

Seriously impressive!

Thanks Rob the car is a little nippy on the road :driving:
Going to Brands Hatch on the 6th so I can master hopefully being fast round a track too

Once Darren gets some grippy tyres im sure the time will drop further, but also bear in mind Skiddy is toing it with an L6 NA....hats off to him too....

The guy in 8th position with a 12.2 second quarter, is this not quicker than 12.2516? or am I reading it wrong? It doesn't mention slick either, so is it road legal?

The times was witnessed but no slip was forthcoming (I was there with Mike and Rob etc)
I guess because there was no slip then the time is less credible

There is a decimal place rule - A 12.2 is assumed as 12.2999 not 12.2000.
Steve is correct, no slip was handed in on the day but was witnessed and it was an important time to record.

In the event of an equal elapsed time, the higher terminal speed will be higher placed on the table.

I think it was back in 2006 when we introduced The Hall of Fame.
Using magazine archive material it started with about 55 cars which had achieved a sub 15 second run.

We now have 80 entries, so only 20 left before we hit the 100 cap and people start to drop off the end.

I wonder how many years that will take ?

2... At the most. I'm pretty sure it's gonna start gathering momentum now as a few peeps have been posting up the newest 'Legendary' times all over the shop and generating interest with it (I think Steve's time was the clincher, as it got a lot of peeps thinking "how the hell?"). We really need to start getting video up of the runs. I'm working on a way 'round that as we speak.
